Holy shit. Aside from the fact that "Chase It Away" is a beautiful dreamscape of a song, sailing high on ethereal vocals and delicate guitar, it's the work of one man: Faris McReynolds. Even crazier, ExDetectives close out 2012 with four full-length albums being released in that year alone. "Chase It Away" has McReynolds flexing his lo-fi muscles, making a bedroom recording worthy of those scant conscious moments before you drift off to sleep. When the final, breathy vocals slow their slight vibrato to close the track it's a sweet release indeed.

Unlike so many musicians that become painters, the Los Angeles-based artist Faris McReynolds found success as a fine artist first.  Showing his work in galleries before he was even out of art school, McReynolds thought his career path was mapped out for him. He was wrong.

Los Angeles-based musician Faris McReynolds today announced the launch of Post Planetary, a new record label that will issue debut albums by Archer Black, Exdetectives and One Finger Riot in early 2012.
