[NEWS] Injunction filed against Dimensions Entertainment in response to Gal.actic’s comeback

In the late evening of February 12, it was revealed through reports that a men’s group has filed an injunction against Dimensions Entertainment in response to girl group Gal.actic’s newest single “Be Ambitious”, which was released on January 31.

In their statement, the men’s group requested that the song be banned from further distribution, stating that the song “is harmful to men and women alike, as well as the nation’s youth, who may hear the song and its messages.” They went on to explain their opposition, stating, “Female idol group Gal.actic's new song “Be Ambitious” was released on January 31, 2019. The lyrics are implicitly sexual in nature and complain about a man not responding to a woman’s seduction and the attempts of the woman to seduce him by wearing a short skirt. This message is harmful to the youth of Korea and should be banned and removed from distribution immediately. In the music video, the members also laugh at men training in the army, which is a disturbing insult to the nation’s troops and damages the long-honored image of soldiers within the country.”

Dimensions Entertainment has responded to the injunction with a short statement: “The intentions of “Be Ambitious” and its music video do not align with the complaints issued. We are sorry to hear it has been interpreted in such a way.”

[NEWS] Show Champion faces backlash for new segment with Gal.actic

MBC Music broadcast Show Champion has face backlash since their July 24th episode where they introduced a new segment, the first occurrence of which highlighted Dimensions Entertainment girl group Gal.actic. During the segment, the group was made to read and respond to malicious comments.

Among the comments featured in the segment, there were netizens’ criticisms of the members’ singing, looks, popularity, and music. Following the airing of the segment, Show Champion face backlash from fans who accused the broadcast of being too harsh on the members. The group’s company, Dimensions Entertainment, has also faced backlash for allowing the group to participate in the segment.

Show Champion has declined to comment at this time, though they have confirmed they don’t plan to air any more of the segment with other groups. Dimensions Entertainmnet has also declined to comment.

[NEWS] Men’s groups withdraws injunction against Gal.actic

On the evening on April 15, Dimensions Entertainment held a press conference addressing the injunction that had been filed against their girl group Gal.actic by a men’s group, citing reasons of ill intent towards members of the military and lyrics and imagery that are harmful to the youth of the country. Gal.actic was removed from a festival performance for the South Korean troops following the controversy.

Following the press conference, it was announced the men’s group had withdrawn their injunction. Dimensions Entertainment stated, “It has been revealed that the injunction initially filed against our company on February 12 has been withdrawn after much discussion and negotiation between both parties. Gal.actic will be happy to continue to support the South Korean troops in the future.” Dimensions Entertainment also added that Gal.actic is excited to meet with their fans at a mini fanmeeting on the 21st of this month.

The men’s group issued a statement following the one from Dimensions Entertainment, stating, “We have withdrawn our injunction. We are thankful to the representatives and legal team of Dimensions Entertainment who spoke to us openly and heard our side during our negotiations.”
