not 100% sure that you don't know much about this fandom, but HOMESTUCK >:3
THE JOKE IS ON YOU. I KNOW ALL ABOUT HOMESTUCK BECAUSE I'VE READ THE WHOLE THING AND EVEN COSPLAYED AND HAVE A SEPARATE BLOG DEDICATED TO IT.
Homestuck is an experimentally styled webcomic/game thing that expanses over 6 "acts" already and is due to go on for at least one more. It combines gifs or flashes with pesterlogs to tell the story of a bunch of kids who use the game as a medium to contact and play with a bunch of alien kids to beat the game called SBURB. SBURB is a weird combination of sims/rpg games/and a bunch of other things that destroys a planet of it players so they can create a new universe. Each player is given a world of their own and a title that relates to the super powers they would get when they reach the high level of "God Tier".
Throughout the comic you learn about the four human kids and the twelve Alternian trolls. (Gray aliens with candy corn colored horns that each have a symbol of one of the twelve zodiacs) These people have adventures and conversations and you learn that everyone's life kind of sucks but it's okay as well, but then everyone you care about dies in some way or another, a lot of the time they come back but not always. There is lots of background to these characters and they all have rich development.
A few thousand pages, a bunch of awesome music, and a few beautiful flashes later, we get even more characters to care about and watch die, and it's tragic and awesome and very well done in general.
There is also a bunch of intermission characters that you learn and care about too, All in all, Homestuck is a bunch of characters, cool art, WONDERFUL music, and really deep meta mixed with world building.
