He knows, even before it happens, that heās not winning the fight. He never does, not really, because his intention is never to hurt, not if he can help it.Ā
Everyoneās always said that itās going to be his downfall, but heās never been willing to believe it, blinded by his need and desire to save others, but tonight is the night that everythingās going to change. Because itās four of them, and heās called for the pack, but they arenāt here yet.Ā
Theyāre in the center of town, and when Scott had been unable to drive them out, away from any innocent humans that could possibly get hurt, heād driven them up.Ā
The air is cold against his cheeks but he barely registers it, the feeling lost to the hits that just keep coming. He can smell his own blood, thick and heavy in the air and he thinks that maybe tonight is the night he dies.
Except itās worse than that. Itās worse than that because theyāve backed him up against the ledge of the building and then they push.
Scott doesnāt remember the fall. Heāll never remember the way it felt, free falling through the air, and heāll never remember the way that the concrete cracks beneath him.
But no matter how long passes, Scott will always remember the way it feels like his body has just been set on fire, along with the sound of his voice as hes screamsĀ into the night.
