Warning: Sons of Fëanor rant
The Sons of FĂ«anor are entitled assholes, probably worse than their father*. They think they deserve honor, respect and the Silmarils just by their birthright.Â
Their brother was held hostage and tortured by the personification of evil for decades. Who saved him? Fingon, their cousin. And some of the brothers were even displeased when Maedhros relinquished the crown to Fingolfin.Â
All they think about is the Silmarils, and yet it was LĂșthien and Beren who actually did something to take them from Morgoth. Did Celegorm and Curufin thank them? No, first they tried to keep LĂșthien and Beren from doing it and then they demanded to give it to them. L+B risked their lives to get that stupid stone, while you did nothing, they get to keep it, fuck off.
(Iâm giving the benefit of doubt to Maedhros because heâs my favorite because he actually tried to do something by rallying the Eldar against Morgoth, even though it ended in the bitterest of defeats because heâs still FĂ«anorâs son)
The only thing the SoF are good at is kinslaying. What they did to the Teleri is unforgivable in my book. The attack on Doriath is not justifiable, but at least more understandable, considering that Dior actually had a Silmaril. Still, attacking other Elves is a sure way to make Morgoth stronger. How stupid can you be? Besides, leaving kids to starve in a forest is an act worthy of Tywin Lannister in cruelty. Thatâs one of the most sickening acts in the book so far.Â
In conclusion, the Sons of FĂ«anor are assbutts and donât deserve the Silmarils.

Disclaimer: This is not to say I donât enjoy the characters. Out of all the characters of The Silm only FĂ«anor and his sons have made me type out so many words, but they are still assholes.
* I wonât lie, I still love Maedhros and what I said above doesnât really apply to him. Now that Fingon and Finrod are dead, heâs my only living favorite character in the book. Heâs the only one out of the seven who seems to have compassion. Granted, I havenât finished the book yet and have stopped right before the Third Kinslaying, so my opinion is subject to change.
