Hello!! I just finished reading the last chapter and I cant wait to read the rest!!! The way you describe Killua and Gon's routine is so good and well written like omg
Im sorry if its a silly question but how does it work this "beta reading" thing? Do you have to pay someone to help on that or no? After reading your story Im feeling really motivated to write one story as well:D its not gonna be so good but I wanted to try hehe
Anyway I hope you have an awesome weekend! Love your writing:)))
Oh and do you have any tips/advices about writing stories?:))
hellohello!! thank you so much for the wonderful ask anon i am happy to yap :)
ahh thank you so much! writing a established relationship like that is pretty new to me so it took some time to navigate and get right- i'm glad the payoff was worth it!
no such thing as a silly question! in my dictionary, beta reading is where you have someone preview your work to make sure it is ready to be posted! beta reading is different than hiring an editor for novels- it's much more casual :)
my beta in particular hunts for grammar issues, weird phrasing or incomplete thoughts, possible issues with clarity-and the best part- gives me live reactions to the chapter! though you can discuss with your potential beta what exactly you're looking for help with reviewing.
it isn't common to pay beta readers to review your work, usually you can find one by being fandom friends, personal friends, or you can also post wanted ad's on writing servers or across the web! there are many people willing to beta read works, me included, so if you're interested in a beta send me a dm and i'd be happy to work with you! i love meeting new people and discussing anything fandom related :D
i'm so touched that my story has motivated you to try writing your own :,D it can be difficult at times but it is very rewarding to create your own fanfiction! don't worry about it being good or bad, focus on enjoying the process and write what you want to write about.
you asked the right person because i love to talk about writing!
my first major tip was sort of mentioned above, but i would like to expand on that;
writing is challenging, it is hard getting all of your thoughts organized on a page where it is coherent and follows the story you're trying to tell. while it can be complicated- writing should never make you unhappy. don't force yourself to write something you're not passionate about, no one is holding a gun to your head telling you to write something! do what feels right for you, there are no expectations for fic and as long as you're having fun that is the only thing that matters.
another big tip is take breaks! don't feel bad for taking a long time to work on a specific section or chapter- it is completely okay to skip things and write other scenes. another thing is you can always rewrite something- but you cannot rewrite it if it hasn't been written. get your thoughts out on the keyboard or page and then expand on it!
the way i plan out my chapters i usually start with just a sentence or two, with the most basic idea for what i want to happen- then adding details later. i often get my best ideas while out and about so i will take voice notes or write little messages for myself so i can go back and revisit them later!
i hope these little thoughts helped answer some questions for you, thank you so much for the well wishes and i hope you have a lovely day/night!!
