I'm going to agree that he's definitely capable of being cheerful.
However, I'm almost positive that's mostly a facade towards everyone else.Â
So my question for why it would ooc for post WoM is the fact over why exactly he would need a facade in front of future him. Unless of course, it's more for his own benefit, and he likes to delude himself. Which could very well be true.
