loved the first couple hours SO MUCH it felt like a combination of re1 & re7, the story so far seems solid and we do rly appreciate they brought alyssa back, even if it was literally to kill her in a flashback :/
we LOVE grace so far, although we did not love the end of the first half where she gets really upset about leon killing mutated emily? we understand her emotions and why she wouldn't be able to do it herself/would have frozen and probably have been killed of Leon wasn't there, but she literally just killed Marie and knew from the files that the girl Was Marie. and she had no emotional reaction to that at all. we had no problems with Grace's character up until that point, we can understand her not wanting to kill mutated emily but for her to be angry and upset that Leon did feels weird. ESPECIALLY for her to just get on a helicopter with Gideon and wesker lite right after???? is Gideon not responsible for the experimentation and mutation of Emily?? like for her to switch up like that felt weird and out of character for a character we literally just met lmao. that whole cutscene bothered us a lot.
we ended up actually really enjoying Leon being in this game so far, we were annoyed when it was announced but he fits into the story and gameplay well. and SHERRY!!!! we were so happy when she was revealed we're so glad she's in the game, hope she gets more screentime.
also the graphics are incredible???
with the start of the raccoon city section, we don't have any issues so far, it feels like a good post mortem vibe of re2make.
I think our biggest complaint so far is that Claire, Ada and/or Jill aren't in it. I think doing a "raccoon city survivors are getting sick" plot only works if you actually address all of the main character survivors? like so far there hasn't been any mention of them. we'll see ig
also if they are actually doing a wesker plot we're gonna be pissed LMAO
thinking about re9 chronic care center compared to typical "mental asylum" horror. how what's scary about the care center is the lack of autonomy the residents have, what has been done to them without their knowledge or consent, how they've been experimented on for the goal of developing weapons. how many staff are in the center, not just scientists but all the people necessary to keep an operation of that scale running- maids, chefs, security. like it's such a huge contrast to something like outlast where what's scary is the mentally ill people. finding the notes around the center and uncovering how the residents were just treated as test subjects.

also forgot to say this earlier but! the girl/marie kind of reminded us of lisa re1, ik their stories are different but young girl mutated into a monster while still having a weak sense of self :((
grace is such a good protagonist..... like she's terrified throughout the whole game but seeing her keep pushing through and her motivation going from saving herself to saving emily to saving leon to just doing the right thing. she's so scared the whole time but she keeps going because she's a kind person.
