A project after my own ♥️ - last summer I had the pleasure of working with Kirsten Kapp, a scientist and professor teaching at Central WYOMING College in Jackson. Kirsten has been investigating the issue of microplastics in the Snake River watershed. 
She was one of the first to publish a study that sampled the entire length of a river in the US.
Plastic pollution comes from a variety of sources - like synthetic clothing fibers. From plastic beads in cosmetics to single use grocery bags, these products release microplastics into the water that our current wastewater treatment plants aren’t capable of filtering out. This has a lengthy list of impacts on our environment, including plastic making its way into the human food system
We can all help navigate this problem by making informed choices in our everyday lives. Is your community making efforts to limit plastic consumption in your area?
