Charon wondered if he should avert his own eyes as she removed her shirt, but stopped caring about that once he saw the size of the wound when her shirt was off. It hadnβt looked nearly as bad with the dark fabric of her suit. He desperately wanted to help her, dig into her bag for her and find the stimpaks and various other supplies she needed so she didnβt have to exacerbate the injury, but asking wasnβt his forte and just doing itΒ had proven not to work in the past. βPlease let me help you,β He finally spoke, reaching out a tattered hand. Heβd sewn up many-a knife wound on himself over the years and he knew it would be no different for Violet. The question almost made him smile. βIβm fine,β He assured, ignoring the gnarly bite heβd received from mongrel. Heβd barely known it was behind him when it bit the living daylights out of his calf. Heβd kicked it off the railing of the subway concourse and it had landed with a smack on the tile below. It had not tried to come back for more. He wasnβt even sure if it broke the skin, it just hurt a little to walk.Β
She's slightly taken aback by the offer of help and how seemingly gently it was spoken, but she also knows that having someone help her wouldΒ be easier, even if sheβd done it many times herself, so she bites back her refusal.Β Β βAlright, fine.β she concedes, gently placing the supplies sheβd fished out from her pack into his hands instead.
At his own refusal, she scoffs,Β βMaybe you are as stubborn as me.β she jokes,Β βbut if you say youβre alright, I wonβt push it.βΒ
