Today’s hard truth -> it’s been one year, one month since getting clean. Today’s struggle has been the realization that being on drugs looked way better on me than being sober looks on me. Snorting 35 oxy’s a day had me skinny, pretty, motivated to go out and exercise, get my nails done, pick out pretty outfits and care about my makeup and hair. Being sober, I’ve gained about 15 pounds, I’m always tired, I never exercise and I definitely don’t have the motivation to do anything about my hair makeup or outfits. I feel ugly, I feel fat, I feel like my best self has come and gone. I loved myself the most when I was on drugs. How shallow does that make me? I find myself praying for the day I walk into a situation where I can go back to the way things were a year ago. How sick does that make me? I just want to feel pretty again. How do you stay clean when you don’t even want to stay clean.
