You know that moment when you're thinking of someone that you like or w.e, & they're just so cute you say the "He's/She's just so UGGHHH! He's/She's just so cute!!" line? Like the person is just THAT cute, you can't even finish the sentence so you sorta just happily grunt or something?
This is a veeeeery long post but if you were there at cosfest/are interested in how everything went, do read it ;w;
Okay, since my dear leader Eiko has already posted her review, it's time for me to do mine.
First off, THANK YOU everyone who came over to our booth! Even if you didn't get anything and just said hi or looked over, we really appreciate even that tiny bit of attention! The response we got was really a lot more than we had expected and we're really really grateful for everything that you guys did for us!
As Eiko has already mentioned in her post, yes i'm the last member to actually join Citru5. I really really REALLY want to thank all 4 of them for everything we went through just to be able to sell at our first con. I think the only member that I knew for over a year before this circle was made was only Jay? And I only knew Haru for about a year and Eiko and Biying....wow...for only a few months! I'm really happy that we managed to work so well together and not yell our heads off at each other. This is seriously the first group project that this has happened. I've never been able to keep my temper in check during most of my group projects and it usually ends up with everyone angry and frustrated. But i'm really pleased that despite all the hectic rush with commissions and money counting, we still managed to keep most of our cool. I'm really glad ! ;w;
A mega big thanks to our leader Eiko for actually deciding to start a circle. I really admire your determination and ambition! This year is my fourth year going to anime conventions and I remember two years ago, I also had the idea of getting a booth to sell at but I never actually got around to doing it so I really really admire you for actually going all the way to do what you want because I would have never been able to do that by myself. Also a very big THANK YOU to Jay and Haru for actually inviting me to this really awesome party! Really thank you so much! I'm honestly honoured! /;a;\ And also thank you Biying for always being there! Even though you complain constantly that you're not doing enough, I think that you have. And you don't realise it but you've become one of the more, if not the most, precious member of Citru5 because of everything you've gone through and all the troubles that you encountered over the course of this project and that makes you very special to us. (You still haven't taken your cookie!)
I remembered we had TONS of trouble with the printing and merchandise. So many things happened that we actually wondered if there was some conspiracy to hinder us haha. First there was Haru's tablet which died but managed to revive itself, then Jay's computer display monitor died and she had to connect it to her sister's computer in order to keep drawing. Then there was also the death of Clip Paint Lab beta which really caused a lot of trouble for Haru since she wasn't done with her merchandise and she had to forgo two badge designs. There was also the rush of finishing our stuff on time. Eiko had exams, Jay also started working and then there were some serious problems and also holiday homework. I swear, this was the period that I drew the most in such a short time (8 badges and 3 prints in 1 week!). And then the panic when the thumbdrive with all the files couldn't be opened in the printing shop. Ha...haha. But we managed to stick through everything together and i'm really proud of all of us for that!
Thank you Jun and Amy and Xingzhi for helping out with the money and selling even though you really didn't need to D; All of us really really reaaaally owe you guys a bunch!
Cosfest went really really well and I really didn't expect the response we got. It was definitely overwhelming and exceeded ALL our expectations. It's our first time and I really do apologize to those who were planning on getting the Love is War print/Miku badges and could only make it on the second day only to find out that they were sold out. ;a; We didn't even think of keeping extras for the next day because...we honestly didn't think we needed to. But now we have a rough gage of what's popular and what's not so don't worry we'll be printing new quantities of the more popular stuff by AFA so there should be enough! ;w;/
But yes, thank you to everyone who commissioned me and i'm really sorry if the quality wasn't what you expected. The commission samples I did were way better because I had more time to work on them while the on-spot commissions were a big rush. But I had a lot of fun doing them because it was a chance to draw things that I probably wouldn't have drawn and yeah! It was also really interesting to draw some of your OCs! Also I know Eiko chided me on this but yeah...I didn't know how to refuse u___u so I ended up undercharging a guy who actually asked for a custom design and background u___u I will...be more tact the next time u___u/
I also want to thank a few more people. Thank you circus-usagi for commissioning me ;w; Oh gosh, I don't know how to say this but I really want to talk to you a lot more. I had no idea you were who you are and it was only until I got home to search up your deviantart before I realised that you were the artist that I got really intimidated (and also admiration for) because of your sheer talent. And you were so nice! I really do want to get to know you more...hopefully I don't sound too creepy as of right now...hhaha. (also the pokemon postcards are really cute, on to my wall they go whoop). Also, thank you Sana for enduring all the noise at our table. I really hope you didn't get irritated by our constant fangirling because we REALLY REALLY REALLY love your art! Thanks for being so nice to us the past two days and thank you so much for the free prints aaaa ;a; Thank you so much! Also thank you to the artists from Icarus Designs! it was really cool meeting you all at the printing shop and then discovering that your booth was right beside ours :D Thank you so much also for enduring all the noise at our table and how we constantly moved around so much ;a; Also thank you for the Sherlock sticker and yay MORE SHERLOCK SG FANS! (scream) All of you are so nice and hopefully we'll get to meet each other again at future cons *w* Also a big thank you to Reiru for forever being such a nice friend and supporter! Thank you so much for the free sketch and don't get depressed ok! Because you have so much talent for your age and i'm sure you'll improve like the wind and be really really professional! Keep working hard dear! Thank you as well to the people from the Drawers group and the Manga Class group who came to support us! You guys were really awesome ;w; Also thank you to my school friends who were really nice to come and visit and support me and also to my family for supporting me all the way ;w; Really thank you so much (yeah dad i will pay the printing costs back, i will i will <3)!
Basically, Thank you everyone and I'm really sorry for this whole jumble of text because i'm really bad at thanking people so I....I tend to ramble. But even though i'm not good at putting my feelings in words and I think I missed out on a lot of stuff, do know that I really appreciate everyone there and I really hope to see all of you again at the next con which is most probably AFA. So yes!
You know that one point where you just want to draw in someone else's style forever because it looks so good?
Don't. You are you and please continue to be you. How would you feel if you get popular just by plain copying someone else? They're not liking your art, they're liking a style that has been copied off. Basically, they're only liking you because you've put on a mask. They aren't liking the real you. It make take time, years maybe, but when you are liked because of your own style, because you decide to stick to your style, that will be the best feeling in the world.
You know that one point where you just want to give up drawing because someone else just gets more notes, gets more faves, gets more likes, gets more attention and is younger/the same age as you?
Don't. If you keep on drawing, you will improve and there will soon be others looking up to your art. But if you stop, then there goes all the greatness you could've achieved if you never did stop. Keep making art, there's bound to be more talented people, but keep to what you draw and just don't stop. You'll get there. Just keep going.
You know that one point where you decide to draw fanart of a series you don't even know but is popular just so that you would get noticed?
Don't. That's a really pathetic way to get noticed. Draw only what you want to. Draw only what you like and what you feel most passionate about. If you like designing original characters and putting them into different situations, do that. Don't bother trying to draw fanart to get yourself noticed. You will get noticed, even if it's slow. Only draw fanart if it's something you love deeply. Remember, you're not drawing to make other people happy, you're making art for yourself, because you like it. If you're making art for the sake of attention, then that's just pathetic and you should just stop doing art. Draw passionately.
