survival 101 / fire & miyu

Forests had always been a bit of a challenge for Miyu, although not necessarily in a bad way. Maps were of no use in a forest unless you stuck to the designated walking trails -- but what was the fun in that? Going off the beaten path, that was what made adventuring truly fun. As far as difficulty, Pinwheel Forest wasn’t exactly an area for beginners; yet here she was, wandering about the dense foliage somewhat aimlessly.
Miyu was lost, there was no doubt, but she wasn’t particularly upset about that. It was all about the journey, after all, rather than the destination -- especially when the destination wasn’t exactly clear.
Although there were a few hours of daylight left, the backpacker was looking for a suitable place to set up camp. Due to the abundant leafage of the surrounding trees the rays of sun that managed to filter past the dense canopy were few, and it was already beginning to get dark in the heart of the forest. Miyu was still on the search for a perfect spot when an odd scent immediately captured her attention. The sweet smell was almost intoxicating, and her head felt a bit cloudy as she tried to refocus on her task.
“Why am I so sleepy all of a sudden?” She sighed quietly as she trudged on, dragging her feet. Her eyelids felt so heavy she could hardly keep her eyes open as she forced herself forward. Was it her imagination or was there a pink haze surrounding the edges of her vision... “Huh?”
Stopping abruptly Miyu widened her eyes slightly in shock. Before her eyes the pink haze slowly began to swirl in on itself until suddenly, she was standing in the middle of Aether Paradise. Alola...? She could have sworn she was in Unova just a second ago, but... maybe she was mistaken. Her memory was fuzzy.
Her heart filling with the bittersweet sense of nostalgia, she began to walk forward. The warm Alola breeze caressed her cheeks -- this must be real. She stepped toward the entrance and the doors slid open, revealing the bright-white inside. Home.
