Regina Bradley, Adam Gussow & Claudrena Harold discuss the ways that music, history & race intersect in the creation of American identity.
This event discussed how being an author of color is both difficult and important in the publishing industry. Varies authorâs talked about how trying to tell certain stories close to their experiences is difficult. Often they are meant with resistance of hesatation because their publisher believes their stories would alienate potential readers. They also talked about how the âBlack Lives Matterâ movement has helped lessen the push back on these type of story ideas being told. They emhpasied how itâs important for people especially children of color to see themeselves in stories. So they know that people who look like them can be heroes as well.
