The World of Everas
With every story ever told, there was a place that it happened in. From dark enchanted woods to icy mountain tops, Everas is a wild and ever-changing place to explore.
There are five distinct continents, or regions, located in the world. To the west, you have the continent of Valewyn which is arguably the largest chunk of land if you consider its northern neighbor of Oxley. To the north, the region of Altus lies, split by the Constellation Mountains. In the east is Jiansho, a region of lush jungles in the north and arid deserts to the south. And towards the south are the tropical islands of Unios.
Of all the regions in Everas, there are many different provinces and kingdoms as well. Each governed by their own monarchs, sultans, chiefs or emperors. Some are old and rich with tradition while others are more progressive and keeping up with tomorrow.
The people of Everas, or Evarians, are mostly a happy folk. Their troubles tend to be few and far between. That is, until a villain decides to start tipping the scales of Light and Dark. Without the Darkness, there would be no need for the Light and vice versa, but that doesnβt stop either side from trying to overpower the other. Balance is a necessity for Everas and because of this, the Council of Elders oversee the guardians, or keepers, of Everas and make sure they are doing the next right thing and keeping all Everas safe from harm.
Magic is also a mystery that lingers in the air. Some keepers wield it, some fear it, and others may not even believe in it. The arcane arts began a long time ago when the world was new, but we will get to that in a later chapter. Those who possess its powers are known as sorcerers, those who study it are known as wizards or witches, those who live with the flora and fauna are called druids, and those who harness it from an otherworldly being are known as warlocks. There are some who even use the magic of the heavens known as clerics and paladins.
There are also those trained in weaponry and combat. Those who use swords and other handheld weapons are known as fighters and paladins. The tricksters from the wilds and underbellies of cities are known as rangers and rogues. Masters of hand to hand combat are known as monks who train and discipline themselves in the monasteries across the land.
No matter what class a keeper falls into, they are part of a collective of other guardians set to keep the balance of Everas equal on both sides.
When the World Gate appeared, this allowed an influx of different creatures and races to roam across the realm. The most common race on Everas are humans. With their abilities to adapt to different environments and learn quickly, they have become the dominant people of Everas, leaving the others to create their own communities and homes within the wilds. Within the next chapter, you can learn about how the world was created, where magic comes from, and the interesting history of how Everas is as it is today.
