Commission for Romiress of their OC Evaristus
how Ev would get along with the other members of the Gatewatch:
Ev reaaaally admires Gideon and his beef. Gideon mission of protecting the innocent is exactly what Ev finds honorable. He likes Ajani for the same reason. They’re both from Theros, so they would trade a lot of stories about their youth. Ev isn’t really much of a soldier or fighter, but Gideon would probably give him a few pointers on how to handle close-quarter confrontation.
Jace is a person Ev didn’t think he’d like, but ends up being fairly neutral towards him. Telepathy is a type of magic Ev finds very interesting due to its similarity to pathomancy, and Ev learns a lot about it and his own emotions. He also finds it surprisingly difficult to influence Jace’s emotions, but he reads them easily.
Chandra is great fun to be around. Evaristus enjoys the feel of her emotions, and the way she pokes at him to not be so cranky.
Nissa and Lilliana aren’t people Ev cares too much for; Liliana uses others and Nissa is too down to earth.
Thinking more about attitudes and values than strictly colors, which guild do you think Ev would rather align with? What about Tarkir's dragon broods?
Let’s see...
The Azorius is the guild Ev admires greatly, as they are similar to the Sect of Leeches, but don’t have the same methods.
The Boros’ stance of dispensing peace through militarism is not Ev’s thing. Evaristus much prefers non-physical ways of justice.
Though he would fit in with the Dromoka the most, Evaristus embraces Ojutai’s philosophy the most. He’s very much into inner self and meditation to better understand his emotions.

The gods of Theros are being a problem again! Which one of them does Evaristus hope he gets to kill?
Ev doesn’t really like Heliod, since he has a few ties to the Leonin. Ev highly suspects it was Heliod who ordered the destruction of Iretis (it was actually Ashiok and Phenax who did that, though).
The Gatewatch is leading a fight to reclaim Zendikar from the Eldrazi! What does Evaristus do to help?
Evaristus, physically, is pretty frail. He’s a little bald ball of rage, but he can’t hold his own in a fight.
That is, in part, why he learned emotion magic.
Ev’s first point of attack would be inciting rage among the Eldrazi and turn them on each other, but he soon discovers Eldrazi don’t think or feel in any way familiar to him. The next thing he would try is to boost the native creatures of Zendikar and try to give them an upper hand (if Ev had a planeswalker card, one of his abilities would be along the lines of giving +2/+0 and menace to a creature).
Evaristus does care about other peoples’ emotional well-being, so on his downcycle he would offer to drain feelings of loss and hopelessness from the Zendikari.
Jace can see all the nightmares Emrakul is forcing the Gatewatch to experience! What does he see when looking in on Evaristus?
Evaristus’ biggest fear is that his sisters are alive. The main motivation of his character, and the reason his spark ignited, is the destruction of his city and family by leonin. Ev could live with Iretis being destroyed, but his sisters’ deaths were the last straw. Seeing his sisters - the two things in life he cherished most - destroyed spurred him to go on a quest for power with which to enact his vengeance.
If he found out his sisters were alive, and not dead as he assumed, everything he did would have been for nothing, and his moral values would be hugely impacted.
