it’s the new year, sunshine!  i wouldn’t  have made it here without you. hopefully this polaroid will be mine to keep soon, since you’ll be able to remember this with more than a photo.

      by the time her and her friends arrive, things are in full swing. she can hear the loud thumping of music in the stairwell on the way up, and though that’s never incited any sort of excitement in her before, it does now. granted they should have arrived earlier considering how much time they’d given themselves to get ready, but alas, the trials of taking the perfect photo to end the year had eaten into their schedule even more than they’d expected it to. plus, the drinks didn’t help –- celeste has never had to do her makeup under the influence, but her friends had somehow mastered the talent.

     the cool breeze isn’t enough to spark goosebumps but instead provides a little relief from the heat that radiates from the crowd of people. she busies herself with getting another drink ( something not so strong –- she actually wants to remember tonight ) and she’s about halfway done when maiken and elena leave to the bathroom. anais disappears shortly after in pursuit of someone – celeste assumes it’s jax, but doesn’t ask any further questions – which leaves her alone, quickly finishing what’s left in her glass before hesitantly nearing the dance floor.

     the sight is enough to bring a smile to her face instantly. while she’s had an interesting few days, it’s only then that she realizes it’s been a long time since she’s seen people genuinely enjoy themselves. she’s not sure if halloween counts considering the amount of hell that unfolded, fire included, and she’s sure this night is no exception to drama, but there’s something endearing about watching people enjoy themselves. especially when one of those people is someone she’d do anything to see happy.

has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them ? if so, does anyone else know ?

witnessing adel’s death definitely changed the way celeste thought about things and more importantly, it shifted the way she viewed her father. she still to this day feels guilty about it, even though she knew she did the right thing, she just can’t help but feel like if she’d done it differently, it could’ve been prevented.

which does your character idealize most: happiness or success ?

wisdom. she’s seen how ambition can bring out the worst in people, and while she thinks it’s good to be ambitious, being overly so is a detriment. she’d rather admire someone’s wisdom instead.

even though coming to eonia was a huge move, being in such a protected space definitely brought on an unrivaled feeling of calm the first minute andrés stepped onto campus.
