This project was done during my year abroad in Barcelona in 2014. Its a civic center in trinitat nova, a mostly residential neighborhood in the outskirts of Barcelona. The project tries to generate a very open space, that reflects on the on the transparency which in my opinion a public building should have and give. In this project it was quite important to me, that the center delivers to the people of trinitat nova, not only a place to be proud of, but also an extension to the so called "public space". Conceptually speaking there are three different kinds of spaces or atmospheres generated through the use of different materials.
1. exterior space, which is the outside of the building.
2. intermediate space, which consists of the different corridors and big more "public spaces" in the building (i.e. the multifunctional room, or the gallery). The corridors reflect the outside and try to give the feeling on uncertainty of whether you are inside of a building closed building or just continuing to walk outside.
3. interior space, these are the more private rooms that count with their own kind of cross ventilation. Which works differently than the cross ventilation in the intermediate space.
