Eterzic Lore
The Eterzic were the first race I created on Elleon, you can call me an arsonist for liking fire, but it is objectively the hottest element... okay now for lore.
Like all races on Elleon, the Eterzic take inspiration from a real life civilization in history. I thought it would be an interesting challenge to take the Norse people and move them to the dessert, so a lot of the Eterzic have a Viking theme to them.
Appearance
The Eterzic are on the taller side for Eltics. Standing 4-5 inches taller than the species average; to about 6'8 - 7'5. They have more melonated skin to protect from the suns UV rays. They have reddish brown to ginger hair, occasionally black. Eye colors are either red or orange.
Language
I am developing an entire language for the Eterzic! Based off Old Norse, the Eterzic Language uses lots of stops and low drawn out sounds. The Alphabet was developed as a result of writing on stone tablets where their legends were carved into cave walls. As such all letters are made of straight lines and dots that can be easily carved into stone quickly. The only except is the last letter of their alphabet, pronounced the same as the "Z" in English, using several curved lines. In the Eterzin language, the letter Z in a word shows connection to divinity. The letter also being the written name of the god Eternus.
Culture Notes
As to be expected from living in the harshest desert on the planet, the Eterzic are very resilient, although others might just call it stubbornness. A lot of this stubbornness can be seen in their ancient myths and legends, where those who preserve through hardship are often rewarded. Speaking of those myths, they are all collected in one book that can be found in most Eterzic houses; The Eztra Fay. Eztra meaning God in Eterzic and Fay meaning a Collection of stories, so the Eztra Fay literally translates to Legends of Gods. The most important of their gods is Eternus, called the Over God or The Father in many of his legends. Described as two firey wings, Eternus is said to be the keeper of the eternal flame, others say he is the flame itself. The Eterzic believe that all their ancient tribes sprouted from his wings. Each of the tribes would focus on the worship of one of Eternus's children.
Before written language developt, all history and story was passed down through song. The idea of music carrying power is still held in Eterzic beliefs. During the War of Embers it was recorded that before major battles the Eterzic would sing prayers and legends of the gods. Song is such an important part of their culture that Eterzic children are tought how to sing in school.
The Eterzic have a stereotype of being gruff closed off brutes that would rather fight first than talk things out. However, as most stereotypes go, its wildly untrue. Life in the desert and surviving genocide has made the Eterzic highly protective of life and aware of the beauty of it, as well as caring for those who have also been ostracized. When the Order of The Flame was established, they not only took in the Strata but the Taead and Ryu, and later on they'd accept the Dezteric.
The Eterzic reconize the destructive power of fire, and they respect that power. But they also see fire's life giving properties. The safety and warmth of flame is just as important to the survival of their civilization as its destructive elements. The Eterzic will always be the first to defend those who cant defend themselves
Characters!
Can't have a story without characters right? Here's a few important historical and story characters from The Eterzic.
The Ez-Täkan, Vicair Bläz
The founder of the Order of The Flame. Vicair Bläz is a decendant of the first Ezterzic emperor Ezterath The Proclaimer. Weilding the legendary blue flames of his ancestors he is a living legend among the Eterzic during the War of Embers. During the chaos of the Extinguishing, him and his cousin united the scattered remnants of the Eterzic people while still teenagers. The two would create the Order in the ancestral city Inferanza. The name Ez-Täkan means Keeper of The Flame in Eterzic, and was created as a ceremonial title for the leader of the Eterzic army. After the War, the Ez-Täkan became the leader of the entire Order, and Vicair was unanimously voted into the position by all his new citizens he spent 30 years fighting for. His personal philosophy was to become the symbol that every Eterzic citizens could channel their rage through in hopes of creating a brighter future.
The Dragon, Solithir Flagro
Solithir, or Sol as he preferred to be called, was not born in the Ember Desert. He was born into the Enclave of Blood in the Permafrost. His mother was an Eterzic refugee hiding in the north, and his father was a captain in the Kroen military with a devout loyalty to his Enclave. Sol's elemental powers would awaken in his training at age 6, his mother was executed and he bearly made it out with his life. It is belived by historians that he made his way to the Ember Desert and to Infernza through an underground network of Eterzic sympathizers. He joined the military and by the time he was 32 he had become Alment, or General, of the Eterzic 3rd army, the youngest in history. He earned the name The Dragon in two parts, the first because he modified his helmet to allow him to "breath" fire as an intimidation tactic, rarley seeing practical use, and two because of his unique heritage. Sol is the last surviving member of the ancient Solza tribe, the worshipers of the dragon god Solariz first son of Eternus and lord of choice. His mother was the daughter of the tribe's last chief, making Sol the heir to the Solza throne and with it, emense physical power. During the Battle of Fort Eterza, Sol engaged the Arcane Emperor in a 1v1 duel. The duel pushed both men to physical points their bodies could not handle, leading to both their deaths. Sol is remembered as the man who ended the War of Embers. Pictured here is Sol in and out of his armor, the orange markings over his body are Elemental Shock scars
Vikir Kaisa Logi
Vikir means Lieutenant in Eterzic, and Kaisa Logi earned her ranking in her 20's after being the sole survivor of a failed attack on a Arcean outpost. She is known for leading a small group of converted Arcean turncoats through enemy territory and gathering Intelligence in lead up to important battles. Mapping the Grimmig subway systems, finding the weak points of the Arktra war ships, tracking the Emperor's movements after he fled Arcana, navigating the Permafrost to find safe holds for armies, and discovering the plan to attack Inferanza. While only a single person leading a small team, the entire war counted on her just as much as it counted on her cousin Vicair. Just like her cousin she weilds the ancient blue flame, a sign of her relation to Ezterath the Proclaimer. Her connection to Ezterath would lead her to rediscovering the ancient emperor's sword Inferna within Grimmig. Infernza is a priceless artifact from the earliest days of Eterzic history, said to be forged from the teeth of Eternus himself. Its return to her family marked a turning point in the moral of the war.
Art of Kaisa by my sibling @booitsloki They also made Kaisa :3
