Not my time blind self seeing it was suddenly 3am last night and fully believing I had fallen out of and then suddenly snapped back into the flow of time.
I really hope that "Burning Spice had a wife as the Herald of Change" rumour doesn't end up being true because literally what would that hypothetical character add to the story. I highly doubt her existence was foreshadowed in B-Y Ep. 5/6 (if it's true Devsis plans EVERYTHING out like ppl say, even though they obviously don't considering Sugar Swan's release was thrown in last minute so she could be a deus ex machina) so I feel like any narrative importance she'd have would need to be entirely retconned for it to work. Golden Cheese already exists as a female character for him to bounce off of regardless if this character's addition would be beneficial, why does he even need a wife in a narrative context???
It honestly feels like Devsis is finally realizing how badly they fucked up Burning Spice's writing but instead of retconning his already existing lore to be better, they're just adding in unecessary bullshit because they think "more lore = better lore!" Like their problem wasn't that he didn't "have enough lore," it was that they didn't properly explore the ideas that they themselves introduced. They watered down his motivations to him just being "bored" and not anger born out of the fact that he watched everyone he love die and there was nothing he could do about it (just like Golden Cheese,) and now they flanderize him into being this dumb, simple-minded brute who constantly babbles on about wings. All of that is to ask, how would giving him a wife help his character? It's like putting a bandaid on a fucking car crash
