Here is a backing track I have made with an eery feel to it. With the use of lots of different affects, recordings and hours of editing, I have finally produced a piece which I feel creates the scared and uncertain feel of walking a street in a different country.
From here I intend to add the instructions over the top, layering them and timing the to the walk. I also want to develop a piece of music with these sound clips.
This is an audio track I have created with the idea of vents in mind.
Vents, to me, are something that channels lots of different things into one space; or the opposite where one voice or object lets out (vents) lots of different things.
In the “noise,” you may here piano, train sounds and other sounds which have been distorted to create different effects.
Each sound is from a different space or place. For instance the piano, was a recording played from my phone in the centre of Worcester Cathedrals Chapter House, while the recording device was at the edge picking up all the sounds, echoes, reverbs and distortions that the room shape creates.
Bringing sounds together from around the UK (Worcester, Birmingham, Manchester, Malvern, Cornwall) helps channel all the areas and create a unique sound file which embraces some aspects of the country for me. As I said before, it is a vent because of the way all the noises are channeled in this audio track.
However, having so many layers, tracks, beats and rifts form an explosion of sound and emotion. In this way it is the second vent I talked about.
Combining this ‘vent’ track with another ‘hybrid’ track playing through the ventilation system having a confusion and mess of sound in the room is just the start of the experimenting.
