If the answer is yes then what did I do wrong? [Text]: Whatever it was I’m sure I deserve to be ignored for it but I’m not really sure so I can’t exactly apologize. [Text]: Okay well you’re probably sick of hearing from me so I’ll leave you be.

          FINGERS BRUSH GENTLY against his wife’s sides, steps light as carlisle pulled her closer to his chest. if there was one thing that he was grateful for throughout all of this, it was that esme had remained unscathed. if something were to have ever happened to her, the doctor was certain to lose his mind. ❝ what troubles you, my love ? ❞ he questioned softly, lips ghosting across her temple. their family had been through so much in the span of just a few days, that simple moments like these were what he cherished most. ❝ i promise, if nothing else, that i will not allow anything to happen to you. ❞     /     @esmccullen.

                        ❝    I  CAN’T  PROMISE  YOU  THAT,  DARLIN’,    ❞    she  murmurs,  grabbing  her  glasses  and  putting  them  on.  it’s  somewhat  nice  to  see  someone  will  wish  a  safe  return  for  her,  yet  what  they’re  expecting  is  too  far  fetched.    ❝    has  anyone  ever  promised  you  that  ?  ‘cause  no  one  can  keep  it.  death  is  inevitable  and  when  i  walk  out  that  door,  there’s  a  good  possibility  i  might  not  come  back.  either  by  choice  or  because  i’m  dead.    ❞

          ❝ PERHAPS IT DOES, ❞ carlisle mused quietly, though his gaze never wavered from the witch in front of him. and he knows that she’s not wrong, that pain changes people and it is not always for the best, like some may hope. hands fold in front of him, coming to rest on the table top as he offered her a knowing look. ❝ but it is up to us to determine how it changes us. we can let it tear us down, turn us into a shell of the people we once were, or, ❞ the doctor pause, hint of a smile at the corners of his mouth. ❝ we learn to take it in stride, rise from the pain and better ourselves, become better people for it. so, which will it be, lucy ? ❞

                       her mother’s words surprised her. how could she  e v e r  say anything like this?  “ of course you can! ” she knew what esme was holding onto. she knew that guilt, knew that it would sit there, never going away. “ you did what you did in order to save me. you saved me! ” alice didn’t see her life as worth more than anyone else– her life wasn’t worth that of the officers. but she couldn’t let her mother carry it alone. “ i’m sorry. ” maybe it should have just been me to die? “ you gave me more time... ” but i’m not worth what you’re feeling now and i’m sorry.
