Often while reading Tremontaine and coming across the name Esha, I do read Eshva. Esha is so elegant and dances with swords in her beautiful garden, I canāt help but see her as one of the Eshva.
Maybe this is why I have an undefinable anxious feeling about her. Maybe I feel as if Azhrarn prince of Demons stops by her sometimes and would then meet our beloved Duchess...
I have forgotten what I was afraid of, that would be glorious!
Ominous hairbrushing and sex-politics coding and he would instantly present her with a nicely fanged cat ^^ Trigonometry the Second. :)
I canāt actually ādraw thingsā that are āvisibleā or ādecipherableā but maybe someday Iāll commission a real artist to do them properly. I sketched a few tarot card concepts as characters from @ivanaskye ās Å ehhinah series lol! mostly the ones that most ludicrously on-the-nose:
0. The Fool [God] (the Major Arcana is the path the Fool takes through the great mysteries of life and the main human archetypes. Represents beginnings, looking forward to the future, inexperience, not knowing what to expect, improvisation. the fool believes in the worldās power to teach him wisdom.)
I. The Magician [Lilith] (symbolizes divine immanence and the divine motive in mankind, tapping into oneās own power and/or another personās to bring about transformation. the magician can bridge the gap between heaven and earth)
II. The High Priestess [Jibril] (invites the living to the esoteric mysteries, symbolizes spiritual insight, hidden talents, wisdom, tenacity, intuition, the future yet to be revealed)
VI. The Lovers [Tamar] (a temptation of the heart, a crossroads between relationships, a commitment or desire with serious ramifications, requiring the sacrifice of an aspect of oneās current life. Represents an irreversible choice.)
XVII. The Star [Celyet] (Opportunities aligning, renewed inspiration, hope for the future, attunement to the universe, freedom and serenity, gratitude for oneās circumstances)
XVIII. The Moon [Äshva] (hiding, illusion, and deception, a state of fear and confusion, a time when something is not as it appears to be. A misunderstanding, or a truth one cannot admit to oneself.)
XII. The Hanged Man [Lucifer] (represents ultimate surrender, breaking old patterns and letting go, being suspended in time. the hanged man chooses by his own accord a plight that superficially resembles punishment of a traitor.)

fluffy white nimbus clouds. dark grey cumulonimbus clouds. rain clouds. a hurricane. light spring breeze. a sherbet-colored sky at sunrise. hazy yellow skies. deep blue ponds of fresh water. blankets of sparkling snow. tornado winds. monsoon flooding. rich, orange sunsets. soft, purple clouds at dusk. heavy hail. the rumbling of thunder.
icy sleet. gentle snowfall. moss-dusted tree bark. pink sunset clouds. grey winter skies. navy blue skies in the daytime. cool mist in the morning. leaf-bare trees. giant ocean waves. the full moon. a cracked, dry desert. rolling hills of prairie grass. sweeping waves of briny seawater. rocky, steep ravines. rippling canyon walls. spindly, cave stalactites. creeping, green ivy. lush canopies of leafy trees. dense, white fog. a peaceful creek of clear water.
flowering cacti dusted with dew, catching light in the morning sun. a bubbling, hot pool of volcanic sulfur. sharp, grey mountainsides. fossils nestled in chunks of rock. a white sand beach. deep imprints of animal tracks in the dirt. soft, squishy moss. uniform rows of birch trees in winter. delicate mushrooms popping up in spring from beneath the decay on the forest floor. tumbleweeds jerking in the faintest wind across the desert landscape. light rain.
summer wildfires. a mixing of hot and cool air before a storm. silent lightning in the static of summer heat. a windy blizzard. thick flakes of snow tumbling down from the sky. a tree standing alone in a barren, yellow field. a desert of loose sand and tall, orange dunes. a pure blue sky. a river of molten rock. a grove of flowering trees. twisting, mangled roots sticking up from the muddy ground.
bitter, cold winds. tumultuous skies of stormy clouds. branches of lightning ripping across the sky. a foggy swamp. the tree-bare foothills of a mountain range. sandy brown cliff sides. rocky coastlines. the violent shaking of an earthquake. the mysterious sound of ethereal trumpets in the sky. the lights of the auroras borealis and australis.
a black sand beach. a lone tropical island in the reef of shallow, aqua waters. underwater volcanic vents. a herd of migrating mammals. tree branches growing heavy with ripe fruit. light streaming down through the clouds. a field of lush grain wading peacefully in the summer breeze. the sound of insects and frogs teeming in the night. natural diamonds nestled in coarse desert sands. a frozen lake. snow capped peaks.

No, Kaz. I'm not not killing him because I enjoy his company. I'm not killing him because he's more useful to me alive. For the moment, at least.
Eshva to Kaz
Exileās End
Theme
Eshva had been on Csilla for many years...far too many, in her opinion. She had easily managed to get herself into the politics of the Ascendancy, and spent years aiding new causes rather than those of the Sith.
However, in her old age, her black hair grayed and her bright eyes dulled, she found herself in a bed, staring at a ceiling, while others tried to make her last living moments bearable. She looked at herself, a former Lord of the Sith...left to die surrounded by nurses, by doctors, by uncaring walls. She supposed it was better than being impaled by a rival..
Her arms were withered, her skin no longer firm. She thought of her days of youth and laughed bitterly. She had asked for news of her companion, the Rattataki named Kaz. She had been told that heād died during the invasion of the greater galaxy by Zakuul, but that Zakuulās Empire had then been driven back by some Alliance. When sheād heard it, it was the last straw, somewhere in the back of her mind...sheād known he had died, but had held on to some foolās hope that she would see him again, that she could hear his brash voice insulting someone once more.Ā
That hope died, along with the rest of her will. Now, she laid, waiting for death. When it came, it came in the form of an old friend, the one sheād longed to see for so many years. She could hear him insult her inability to cheat death, but she just smiled, light droplets of water falling down her cheeks as she attempted to reach out...to feel his face, to know the embrace of the man she had stayed with so passionately in her youth.Ā
As her vision faded, she could almost swear that the man was smiling.
WIP but I doubt Iāll ever finish it. This is an Eshva, a demon lady from Tanith LeeāsĀ āTales From the Flat Earthā fantasy series, which I recently discovered and fell in love with. Lee describes the Eshva demons as playful spirits; they also have snakes in their hair, but the ones I drew ended up being cuter than I intended them to be.
