@theawestruckwonder is making me do all of the character asks for Kane. Low-down for those that don’t know he is from my fantasy story set in Eryssai, where he is the king and is fighting his brother, Eamon, to keep his throne and the safety of the creatures of the land. He is also the love interest for the protagonist, Meredith Perkins.

1: What is your character's biggest fear?

He is terrified of failure. Kane’s mission is to keep his brother at bay because if Eamon succeeds, then all of the dark creatures (who are actually kind) will die needlessly.

2: What is your character's favorite memory?

He was probably around seven, he was sitting with his mother while Eamon was out with their father. Nahida had gotten a small mouse to climb into Kane’s hand and they made up a story of the mouse being a brave and honorable knight. Later that day, they let the mouse go, but it came back to him that night and he kept it as a pet. He just thinks of this as a time when he was happy and trusted.

3: What is your character's least favorite memory?

The moment when he found out that his mother died. He had been planning for war against Eamon when he received the message, and simply fell to the ground, unable to move for a while.

4: Does anyone have a crush on your character? Is your character aware of this?

Obviously our favorite Meredith. He is very aware of this because he finds it incredibly annoying that such an erratic girl could steal his heart.

5: Describe your character's dream date.

He doesn’t really like going on dates, so he would just want to go out riding and then sit by a lake, just talking and enjoying one another’s company.

6: What is your character's sexual orientation?

Demisexual, Heteroromantic. 

7: How does your character feel about their name?

As Kane does not have the same connotation in Eryssai as it does in our world, he doesn’t really have much feeling about his name. If he’s being particular, he is a little angry that his name means “darkness” while Eamon means “light”, just because he looked more like his mother.

8: Does your character hate anyone? Why?

Obviously he hates his brother because of Eamon’s plans, but it can be assumed that he strongly dislikes the Fates as a whole because he feels like they dictate his life too much.

9: How does your character feel about religion?

He believes in the Goddess (Eryssai’s deity), but, unlike Eamon, he would not care either way whether she exists or not.

10. Would your character ever kill someone?

He already has.

11: How did your character meet their best friend?

He doesn’t really have a best friend, but the closest would be his servant, Kell, who he brought in after Kell’s parents died. They became close and Kell would do anything for his king. 

12: How would/does your character feel about roller coasters?

Oh my God, he would hate them! Meredith would get him to go on, but that man would scream to the high heavens, vowing to never do it again.

13: What would your character die for?

His cause, or Meredith

14: What is the cutest thing your character has ever done?

It’s more like what he does a lot. Whenever he hugs Meredith, he just nuzzles his nose into her hair and makes this little sound that Mer laughs at every time.

15: What music genre would your character listen to?

Obviously Classical and Celtic, but I think he would definitely like alternative.

16: What other fictional characters remind you of your character?

Tristran from Stardust, Wesley from The Princess Bride, and Faramir from The Lord of the Rings.

17: Does your character have any irrational fears?

He really doesn’t like birds, it comes from a curse on the Wyvernus family. He also gets freaked out if someone scratches him.

18: How would your character feel about having their life recorded?

He’s a king, his life is recorded all the time, so he has to be cool with it.

19: What is your character's deepest, darkest secret?

Sometimes, when things seem tough, he just wants to run with Meredith to her world, after hearing it is much nicer than his. He thinks it would be so much easier than this war he is putting himself in.

20: What is the most surprising thing about your character?

A lot of people don’t realize that he would have an accent different from his brother, but he spent more time with his mother, leaving him to sound more foreign. He also really like flowers, and Meredith knows this, so she gives him a bunch at random opportunities.

21: Is your character flexible?

As much as he can be, but he can’t really bend, more like stretch. Idk, I guess just ‘kinda’.

22: What is the worst thing your character has ever done?

Murdered people. Duh.

23: Is your character morally gray or black or white?

He is very much a grey character because, despite his good intentions, he still finds it easy to fall into darkness and use violence rather than peace to win an argument.

24: What prejudices does your character have?

None really, except he despises those that turned against him.

25: Would you want to hang out with your character?

Sure. We could just sit and draw all day, and I could push all of his buttons. It would be super fun.

26: What is your favorite headcanon for your character?

He has attention issues and so has some stims. He would also love sudoku and rubix cubes.

27: What would be the worst way for your character to die?

At the hands of Meredith if she actually chose to fulfill the prophecy and helped Eamon. She’s the woman he was destined to be with and to have him be killed by her hand would be the worst.

28: What pet would your character like to have?

He already has a wonderful horse, but he would like a hunting dog, which is wolf-like and fiercely loyal.

29: What would be your character's favorite food?

Because he lost his taste for meat, he really likes soup. Especially a pumpkin soup that is made at Aurimoora.

30: Would your character have any hobbies?

He loves sword fighting and drawing, but also likes to design weapons and armor.\

31: What social media would your character use?

He would use tumblr because Meredith makes him, but he wouldn’t understand it at all.

32: What does your character look like?

He is 5′ 8″ and thin from weight-lost, but still holds some muscle around his arms and shoulders. He has darkly tan skin covered in scars (particularly on his nose) and some freckles. His face is long and gaunt, shadows carving out his face. His hair is chin-length and curly, just long enough to mingle in with his beard, and his brow is heavy with a hooked nose along with it. The most important part of him is his eyes, however, as they are bright and illuminated in an almost unnatural way.

33: In what ways is your character like you?

We both don’t like talking to strangers and like wearing all black.

34: What is cliche about your character?

Classic bad boy that gets saved by a girl.

35: What is unique about your character?

He has little confidence in himself and is not afraid to cry once and a while.

36: Does anyone want to harm your character?

Eamon and his forces. Also, probably, Kestrel at times.

37: Do people have justified grudges against your character?

Many dislike how he supports the dark creatures of Eryssai, and there is some racism as, unlike his brother, he looks very foreign, making people think that he is the evil one.

38: What role does your character play in their story?

His is one of the three main characters and narrators (though in 3rd person), and is working to stop his brother from destroying Eryssai. He gets help from the protagonist, Meredith Perkins, and at first is wary of her, but eventually falls in love and they save the day, blah, blah, blah. 

39: What would be your character's niche on Tumblr?

41: Would your character want to have any children?

Absolutely, he wants to prove he can be a better father than his own was.

42: What would be your character's dream career?

If he wasn’t royalty, Kane would have loved to become a blacksmith and really make the weapons he designs.

43: What is your character insecure about?

A lot of stuff. That could be a whole thing on its own.

44: What is your character proud of?

His determination.

45: What would your character change about themselves?

Probably make him look more like Eamon, or be more confident in himself.

46: Would you want to trade places with your character?

Absolutely not.

47: What fandoms would your character be in?

LOTR, Labyrinth, Narnia, Penny Dreadful.

48: How would your character type?

Complete one finger at a time thing. He’s hopeless.

49: How does your character stand politically?

He’s pretty liberal, tbh.

50: What is your favorite thing about your character?

How he is a stereotypical fantasy character, but is still so different.

51: What is your character's favorite animal?

He really likes Basilisks, he thinks they’re cute.

52: How would your character act in gym class?

He’d walk the hell out because he’s a king and doesn’t have to deal with it.

Art Club, Debate Team, Robotics

54: What is the saddest thing about your character's life?

He’s lost everyone he’s loved.

55: Would your character do the Ice Bucket Challenge?

No, he doesn’t like wasting water.

56: What's one of your character's quirks?

He twitches sometimes, runs his hands through his hair, scrunches his nose, etc.

57: How would your character feel about feminism?

He gets married to Meredith, he has to be a hard core feminist.

58: Is your character dorky or more athletic?

59: What is your least favorite thing about your character?

He’s very judgy and barely gives someone 1 chance let alone 2 or 3.

60: If you could title your character's life, what would you title it?

It is officially the best to sing Lady Gaga at the top of your lungs while getting your babus together. 

Maybe I should make a band and put these skills to use.

1. Eryssai: Very Game of Thrones-y with its violence and themes, tells the story of two girls. Kestrel Langdon, the high princess of the eastern Empire who is able to control the ancient power of the Drako flame (dragon powers). The other is Jewl, secretly the heir and Raeka (queen) to the Woodland Kingdom, who has to set off for the Eastern shore to find a cure for her friend, though instead unleashes an evil witch. Continues from there and has a couple of fantasy elements like dragons and wood imps and stuff. Multiple books.

2. Mirror (this is all I call it, its the newest story I’ve thought of): Kind of a mash up between the Hobbit and Labyrinth. Meredith finds a poem that sends her into a fantasy world that isn’t what it seems. The supposed evil king, Kane, is kind and wishing for equality between the creatures of light (centaurs, elves, dwarfs, etc) and the creatures of the dark (goblins, ogres, minotaurs, witches), while his good brother Eamon is plotting to murder his brother for the throne. Meredith is brought because she is the pawn to end the feud of the brothers for good or bad. Lots of fantasy characters and a lot of adventure. Probably a single book, but a sequel series with Eamon returning as a puppet for a larger force.
