something i've noticed about hsbc is this weird sort of subtle repitition that everyone that isn't a part of the main cast (the soldiers, Harry and Vrissy's classmates, heck even the Lobsters) aren't really real, they don't matter like the main cast does, and if they get caught up in the destruction of the candy timeline then it's whatever. This has been repeated a couple times, both explicitly (jade talking about her options for having a child after dave died) and implicitly (the artstyle either copy/pasting bacground characters or only rendering them as silhouettes (although that's probably just an artstyle choice i'm overanalyzing)).
And while it's been played for bits a few times, it just drives home how the cast feels as gods of earth c. Vriska said she was going to get everyone important to her out of the timeline and I don't think that would have registered quite the same way without Lob 5 asking if that included them (and then immediately being told to fuck off) and I think that was a really interesting choice on the writers' part. They're leaving an entire planet full of billions of people to die and the writers are making sure that we know that even if the main cast doesn't care.
I hope it's a plot thread that gets tugged at. At the very least, we could see Genn and Errick, which is a real thing that could happen and not me coping about getting attached to background characters that showed up for 0.5 seconds,

Gotta Catch 'em All (for science)/Consider Waddle Dee The Alpha Base Archive is a collection of treasure: it's not just the old documentation and intelligence reports left over from the war that put the base into the dark in the first place, it's a century's worth of writing, music, video, VR, and whatever other creations the inhabitants of the base ever made or brought with them from Earth. If it couldn't find a place in someone's home, it would find a home in the Archive. The human definition of "treasure" is broad, however. Apparently Nintendo's still going strong.
I keep sitting on art that's already done before finally posting it.
