ps: why are there so few lesbian art subjects out there?
About my remark "Bernini was a step up from Michelangelo", before you stone me to death, let me say this:
Michelangelo is a God when it comes to sculpture and I like some of his statues like no one else's.
Michelangelo was gay and very introvert, Catholic believer and tormented by the idea that being gay was an eternal sin.
maybe this is one reason his statues are seldom emotionally charged, with few exceptions.
Along came Bernini, straight and all, and he added so much theater, drama, facial and bodily expressions to his statues.
(for the connoisseur, he was the Maria Callas of sculpture, the first to introduce acting in opera)
I have a splendid book documenting Bernini's preserved terracotta sketches for the marble statues that we can admire. The sketches themselves are high class works of art!
