As wrong as it is, I feel sorry for the plastic surgery guy and really wanted him to have a happy ending with Judy. However, he should still have been punished for killing all those people, so I'm not sure how my little ship could have ever sailed.

Does anyone else hear the words "Frankenstein's Monster" when it comes to chromes and robots during this show?
We think that Eric in the latest episode was more the monster, than the chromes or any of the synthetics.Β
Victor Frankenstein started his studies in secret while at the university with part of his impetus for doing so being the death of his mother. He wanted to be able to animate dead tissue. The Chromes and Synthetics are all created for the 'public good' and created mostly out in the open, unlike what Victor did. (We do feel that the Chromes can be argued to not be entirely in the public good, but they are more aligned with Dorian Grey in the search for eternal youth and beauty by the parents).
Eric in Beholder is the horrible and disfigured creature initially after a failed experiment, just like the monster. The monster wanted to be loved, but couldn't connect with humans and that caused him to lash out with violence. Eric kills to get what he considers to be his perfect face. The monster demanded that Victor create a female version as he deserved to have happiness, which is what Eric ultimately wants. Eric thought he needed "perfect looks" to have someone love him. The desire for love and connection was strong in both the monster and Eric.
Until we know more about the Chromes we can't really say if there are similarities with Frankenstein's monster. The closest example in the show for Victor Frankenstein and the monster that has been created is likely to be the Society and technology.
"Look, I understand how you must be feeling."
