Whatâs an RP Pet Peeve?
People being too afraid to have their character do what they would really do in a situation.
If your character gets an urge to stab my character, go for it. Thereâs no reason to ASK me if itâs alright. In fact, Wade is, of course, immortal so stabbing him wouldnât really⌠do much. But say I was roleplaying a character who wasnât. I still donât care. If our thread ends with my character bleeding out on the ground, thatâs fucking awesome.Â
If your character gets an urge to kiss mine, J U M P I N T H E R E!!!! This isnât to say my character will kiss them back and a ship will be bornâ hell, they might push your muse away or make fun of them, but what happens next is MY characters problem. People shouldnât get so caught up in asking permission, or in thinking about how they might âruin their chance at a ship with my character if they go too fast!â. You know what ruins a chance at a ship? Not reaching for it at all. Relationships in real life take risks, so maybe they should in writing, too. Isnât that the kind of effort that makes writing feel more real?
I prefer being spontaneous and actually being surprised in a thread, rather than getting a message from a partner asking it itâs okay for their character to do something. If itâs what your character would do, hit me with your best shot. Never feel the need to ask me if something is okay first.
(Just donât control my character. If you say you went to kiss my character and my character kissed back, then⌠you gotta know you ainât doinâ it right.)
