Mia had done her best not to think about the other version of Oliver since their disastrous collision outside the restaurant.ย It simply hurt too much to consider that she shared Ames with someone who looked so much like her father but wasnโt the same man and never would be.ย Sheโd spent many hours in her training space since, trying to turn her distracted thoughts into energy in the hope that they would dissipate and leave her be.
She needed William to talk to, or her mother, someone who could fill the hole in her soul.ย When sheโd seen the ads for the party, though, sheโd decided alcohol might work just as well.ย The speakeasy had thatย in ample supply, and after a few drinks Mia had removed her mask to cool down a little.ย Which was, of course, when she turned from the bar to look straight into her fatherโs eyes.
Frack, her inner monologue commented unhelpfully.ย She couldnโt just ignore him, though, now that theyโd looked right at each other, so she raised a hand in greeting with an awkward smile.
