EPICURRENCE is a conference for creatives. What separates EPICURRENCE from other conference series is their focus on keeping the participant levels low, pairing outdoor activities with talks, and having lots of time for hands-on learning. This is not a conference with tens of thousands of participants that takes over an entire city. EPICCURENCE chooses secluded venues that are often more associated with outdoor activities than any tech product or service.
This years conference will be held at Breckenridge, CO. Participants are looking forward to "intimate talks, workshops, and skiing/snowboarding." I consider EPICCURENCE to be an example of design leadership because it bucks the common trend other conferences take, and lays the groundwork for creatives to spend time doing things together. It is still a place to learn and grow, but the focus isn't only on that.
I have attended other big name conferences that draw huge crowds and one recurring theme is that they feel like work. Long days, little sleep, back-to-back events. Its all fun and you learn a ton, but I have never left a conference like that feeling recharged. I see EPICURRENCE as the complete opposite. You go here to be inspired and meet new people. To take on a few new challenges and try new things. There is a lot to be said about new experiences and the positive impact they can have when you are problem solving or feeling burnt out. EPICURRENCE is the conference version that seeks to make sure all the visitors return to their lives with new stories, inspiring new friends, and a greater appreciation for the work they get to partake in.
