How well does your ePCR system talk to hospital EHRs?
Interoperability between EMS and hospital systems still seems to be a weak point for a lot of agencies. Even with NEMSIS standards in place, the actual handoff at the ER door often involves:
Duplicate data entry between ePCR and hospital EHR
Missing or delayed vitals/medication history transfer
Format mismatches that require manual re-entry
Delays in getting patient outcome data back to EMS for QA purposes
A good ambulance ePCR software should ideally sync this data in real time or near-real time, but in practice a lot of systems still fall short.
Curious what others are experiencing: has your agency seen real improvement in EMS-to-hospital data handoff recently, or is it still mostly manual workarounds?
