every single act bailing commits against luoho jidu is about divorcing him from his identity and autonomy. every single act bailing commits against luoho jidu is about making him unrecognizable to himself and erasing him as he chose to exist in the world. it's a complete violation--of freedom, of choice, of body, of mind, of soul, of existence. there isn't one thing about luoho diju that bailing doesn't touch and disfigure. even when he's xuanji in her 10th reincarnation, bailing tries to estrange her from herself by stripping her of having senses and keeping her from understanding and experiencing love, yearning, heartache, sadness, and a whole range of emotions--keeping her from having the world impact her and having her impact the world.
now. xuanji absorbs the weapons bailing made from luoho diju's body and transforms back into him. and sifeng looks at him. and he recognizes her. *everything* about her appearance is different! she *is* different! she's luoho diju now! but sifeng still recognizes her. and he calls her name, *even as she's luoho diju*!!! the immense, fucking cosmic distance bailing put between luoho diju and luoho diju's self through violence, coercion, deception, and subjugation is collapsed by sifeng uttering xuanji's name. bailing went to horrifying lengths to make luoho diju unrecognizable, and then when xuanji becomes luoho diju (when xuanji returns to herself as luoho diju), *sifeng still sees her.* xuanji asked him to remember her and he does. right then, right at that moment when he calls xuanji's name, right at that moment when he remembers her and yearns for her and loves her and *sees* her in luoho diju and knows luoho diju is xuanji, he fucks up every single thing bailing did to luoho diju!

i’m not sure where i saw it or who posted it but the idea that bells’ hells are characters shaped by someone else’s narrative and through campaign three will become their own main characters is still so interesting to me and even MORE so while watching campaign two for the first time.
campaign two is so much more character driven then campaign three. and i’m not saying this as a bad thing at all. i love it and i’m enjoying the two of them immensely. both campaigns are just so RICH in what they’re about. but there’s just such a noticeable difference between their whats.
