sooo almost three years ago I created this account and I got obsessed with it. I started researching a lot about mbti and I believe I wrote pretty decent posts (I see now they still get regular notes even today). But as always, at some point I got bored of it and I never opened the account again. 

Now I’m back, and a lot has happened to me during these two years so I’m not the same person who was once here, but since I kinda miss this (and also I’m quarantined so I have no better things to do), I might get active again.

The other day I was bored in class so I made a metaphor about my heart to explain my ISFJ friend. This is it:

Hey! I understand you perfectly because the exact same thing happens to me. I need to constantly be in touch with people and see they’re there but I sometimes find myself looking too talkative and overwhelming and I think I might annoy them, which is not always true. 

What I’ve learned about this is that it makes no sense to “force” a pointless conversation just for the sake of it. I mean, if you’re talking to someone and the conversation is stuck, short responses and nothing really interesting to say, leave it. I absolutely hate when people leave me on read and I feel pathetic and clingy, and if I do it back it makes me feel “more in control” if that makes sense. So a lot of times when the conversation is really not going anywhere I prefer to leave it instead of trying to save it. That way it doesn’t feel tiring because when the conversation is interesting you’re not likely to look clingy, but if it’s not you do. So that’s my first tip: don’t talk just because you like talking to that person unless you have something worth it to talk about. 

Also, in the same line I’d say you should try to alternate between reaching people with a “heyyy” or something like that and talking about a concrete topic. You’ll seem less clingy if you look as if you have seen something that you want the other person to see or if something has happened and you have to tell them. I’m sure as an ENTP you’ll have no problem finding things to talk about. 

Another thing that I think is important is observing the other person and noticing when they seem uninterested or bored, or even when they’re not comfortable with a topic. People normally show this by giving shorter answers or changing the topic, so if you see this change the line of the conversation.

But anyway, I think that although this might be useful, you shouldn’t need to apply it. What I mean is that if your friends love you, they won’t care if you want to talk to them and they won’t think you look clingy because they’ll want to talk to you as well. This doesn’t apply to everyone, I have some close friends with whom I can really be myself without any embarrassment and then others that I’m more careful with, but I think with the ones that are really important you shouldn’t be worried about that. As long as you respect their personal space and all.
