There's a quiet fondness in Bell's voice as he knocks at the puppet's box. When he was first told he'd be working alongside one of the machines, as opposed to simply looking after them, he had been a little apprehensive. The band, Foxy--they're bots he feels he understands. The puppet... is not. It's less communicative, it's difficult to read, and its design makes him feel like his skin is crawling.
And yet. His partner in (stopping) crime has proven itself time and time again, and at this point he couldn't imagine having to do his shifts without it.
"Today's k-kind of a special day, actually..."
It's his birthday. The date is pinned up on a list in the back room, but he's pretty sure no one's realized. That's okay, though, because it's not as though he'll be seeing anyone on the nightshift who's human enough to wish him well.
"I was going to bring in cupcakes because that's something people do in offices, I think, but..." But the only "person" he'd be sharing with doesn't eat, and it would feel a little pathetic to bring in treats just for himself.
"Anyway, I brought something else for you instead. It's in my bag, but no peeking until 6, okay? We still have to get our rounds done first."
