“I don’ know that we should be here, Rhee.” Scotty said nervously, the shovel in his hand quivering slightly. The Medjai obviously didn’t want them making their way to Hamunaptra and now that they’d actually made it, he wondered if they were going to receive another visit from the mysterious men.

Not that he believed in ancient Egyptian curses. Of course he didn’t. But being here in the dark, with the sand all around them and no civilization…it was easy to believe that something evil could really be lurking.

“Now you say that?” the woman asked, brow raised. “After all we have gone through, you decide to give up now?”

Scotty hadn’t heard much from Rhee for a little while now but when he felt something against his back, he tilted his head far enough to be able to see that she was asleep. Heaving a small sigh, he checked his watch. Only three more hours before they were due to be picked up. He hoped.

Rhee woke about half an hour later. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up and mumbled,

Blinking, Scotty held still while Rhee drew on him. “What’re ye doin’ then?”

The dress was not the only reason for her excitement. She had gotten up extra early out of excitement. She had not really had the chance to talk with Mister Scott yet, and Junim had suggested that she offer to help him on foot today while the crows took to the air. It suited her just fine, flying through the rafters was a game to them, and a bit of a tricky maneuver for her.

She came to stand in front of the man’s office, peeking inside the open doorway. “Excuse me, Mister Scott? I hope you don’t mind.. I would like to assist on the floor today.”

They’d made it. Khan had been captured again and the Enterprise was safe, more or less. Of course, there were other loose ends to address - the destruction to San Francisco wrought by the Vengeance, the fate of the recently-deceased Captain Kirk - but for the most part, their adventure had finally come to a close. All that was left to do was watch the dust settle.

With the ship secured in Spacedock, Pavel began to go through the motions of shutting down his station. His hands, so sure and steady moments before, now trembled with barely-contained nerves. The young navigator-turned-chief-engineer was by no means an incredibly anxious individual, but today’s events had rocked him to his core. Still, he had one last job to do.

Power everything down, and then let the stress get to you.
