Here’s a sneak peek of the continuation in my high school/track and field AU:

“What will you be doing over the break?”

A harmless question on the surface, but the trace of anxiety in Neil’s eyes keeps Andrew on guard.

“Nothing,” he answers.

“Well,” Neil says, folding and unfolding the corner of the page of his book, “since we couldn’t have you over for Thanksgiving - given that it was more important you spend it with your family and all - my uncle wanted to invite you to dinner around Christmas.”

Andrew’s brain takes a while to process this.

“Uncle Stuart says he wants to meet you, since I spend so much time with you.”

Andrew’s brain finally digests the meaning of the words coming out of Neil’s mouth, causing the spare pencil to snap in half.

“Your uncle,” Andrew says slowly, like he’s testing out the words. “He wants to meet me.”
