             100% misconception ! and a really really big one at that. i have no like time stamps / proof for this one but he’s just…. not. ben doesn’t have a huge need for labels when it comes to his identity, but if he was directly asked he’d say he’s bi ! he doesn’t really lean one way or another he just likes who he likes and doesn’t think too hard about it. he had his first crush on a boy when he was twelve and it was on chad charming and he got over it in like, three weeks. he had like… a Moment of hm cause it was new but at least in a majority I don’t think being not straight is like, taboo or anything in auradon, i want melissa de la cruz to tell me whether same-sex marriage is legal there but she won’t answer my tweets so ):

anyway he had a very short lived relationship with a boy when he was like, fifteen (his name was max, he was a douche ) and never felt the need to do any sort of out there coming out. he just sort of showed up like he did in descendants to his parents except instead of oh i have a new girlfriend btw it was just a boyfriend. his parents were fine with it after, like, a second. it was his only boyfriend pre-movies but he liked other guys they just never panned into anything aside from a one sided crush. he’s comfortable! being with guys, he’s comfortable being out, like ben is good with who he loves but i’m sure outside opinions are more varied.

i lowkey think he’s still expected to end up with a girl by most people and do the whole traditional have a kid and pass on the throne thing even if he dates guys, but not in a malicious way so much as a this is what everyone else has done so i assume it’s what he’ll do too because it’s easier, sort of way. like it doesn’t occur to everyone that he’ll genuinely find the person he wants to be with forever in a guy? for most people! at least! auradon is no exception to the people aren’t always nice rule and i have no doubt there are some people that are like it’s a phase karen! ben doesn’t really think about it, but if he ends up super happy with a boyf and 4 cats it’d be just as good to him as ending up with a gal and 2 ½ kids like if everyone involved is happy he’s good !

Kennedy does the laughing for her,  but not as a device to brush the kiss off  —  it’s soft, amused even.   ❛  Girl, why are you even apologizing ?  If you think that’s the first time a GIRL has kissed me on the neck, you are dead wrong.  ❜   

As always, she OOZES warmth  &  confidence.  Fingers rise to brush a strand of blonde hair out of Emma’s face, tucking it behind her ear.  Her hand doesn’t stray far, naturally finding its way to the other’s cheek, cupping it.  Concern permeates her usually spirited eyes.

        ❝ Wow — You really don’t trust my judgement anymore, do you? ❞  A deadly glare warning anyone to stay away darkens her eyes, accompanied by a burning so hot in her cheeks, she knows it must be showing through.  Arms once clenched tightly against her sides are consciously wrapped close to her chest, allowing her fingers to dig painfully into the bare flesh or her biceps in attempt to channel her thoughts away from the anxiety coursing in her veins and trembling throughout her limbs — Emma’s accusation still hurts worse.

       ❝  I’ve known you half as long as I’ve been alive; you don’t think I’ve figured out the difference yet? ❞   What stings the most is knowing how many years she spent accusing herself of the same mistake.  During their frequent sleepovers, while Emma slept beside her, she remained wide awake trying to fit pieces of inaccurate information together to make sense of the warm nerves in her chest that only grew hotter every second her awareness renewed of the girl resting beside her, so closely that their arms touched.  For everyone else, it seemed simple.  Girls liked boys — with the exception of the gay minority that only showed up on mainstream media as completely sure of themselves, something Audrey definitely wasn’t.

       That same question uncovered an eerie loneliness with the slow realization that she’d rather be with Emma than anyone else on the planet; more than any guy who tried to get close to her, or who she let in briefly only to shut back out abruptly because of how much the experience revolted her.

       She painstakingly pieced it together the best she could with fragments and crude edges, missing parts and certainly a few mistakes — but the answer she came up with was personal, and for so many years only hers, decidedly never to be shared with anyone else, especially not Emma.

       To have it aired like dirty laundry, now of all moments, while Noah was suffering somewhere, exacts the feeling of the custom-made nightmare. She didn’t even realize she’d been pacing while she drowned in her own thoughts. She stops in place, taking an achingly sharp inhalation,   ❝Whatever, it doesn’t matter now —- we need to focus on Noah!❞
