why, you ask?

because shoebills are the only birds i like.

Here is a comprehensive list as to why-

they are massive.

they are pretty fucking dangerous.

can totally terrify me to death if they cared enough to

prehistoric looking

has a psychopathic serial killer aura

bully their weaker siblings(and might kill them too if they felt like it)

mostly act like they're on crack

manage to look adorable and terrifying at the same time

yet somehow look cool af when flying

i can go on forever

but most importantly, they are not as well known as they should be and are a critically endangered species.

There’s a new, highly controversial plan, to save the Tasmanian Devil. The facial cancer which first developed 20 years ago, is so widespread that 90 per cent of devils are now gone. Endangered species- any species that is at risk of extinction because of sudden rapid decrease in its population or a loss of its critical habit.

Cute right?

That right there is a red panda.

They're adorable.

Let's talk about them for a second.

Red pandas live in the eastern Himalayas and southwest China.

They've got fluffy tails, and like roaming about on trees, usually alone.

They're about as big as a cat. So there much smaller than the all time famous giant pandas.

They usually eat bamboo and fruits, and tend to sometimes eat small lizards, insects and birds eggs.

They were discovered 50 years before the giant pandas

When they're threatened, or cornered, they tend to stand up to look more threatening

.... Yeah. Threatening.

BUT

It's not all fun and giggles

They're endangered.

They're on the IUCN red list, with an estimated fewer than 10000 individual pandas. And declining.

causes of them dying out are due to habitat loss, poaching, inbreeding depression.
