SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLE
Xylitol Nova Cookie crashes on Earthbread next to the Crème republic after his people choose to save him instead of themselves from the black hole quickly consuming their planet. Alarms blared through the crisp white halls of the building, Xylitol Nova rushing alongside another Xylitol cookie keeping his pace in her wheelchair. He had been so frazzled due to the sudden black hole alert, he prayed to never live to hear the day it would set off. Due to the alarm and confusion this other cookie alongside him, Xylitol Violet, had led him down the wrong hall.
“Xylitol Nova cookie, I understand your urgency, but I really need you to listen to me sir.” She piped up, causing him to finally stop and turn to her. His expression; an easy to read worry, had caused the cookie to reach out and hold his hand.
“Sir… I had really hoped we would have been able to solve this in time… I don't want you to blame yourself…” she spoke gently, causing his face to gain a level of confusion.
“As your leader, I should have been more focused on preventing this event… or at least postponing it…” he said with a weary voice.
“Sir, as our leader you did everything you could… our time may be up but yours… yours isn't.” she said softly, squeezing his hand which caused it to slip out of her hold, confusion consuming him.
“What… What are you saying? I couldn't abandon my people!” He was offended at the suggestion, it was his duty to protect them!
A smile crossed her face, shaking her head gently.
“You have served us all your life sir… as the collective knowledge of the xylitol planet, we have agreed it's our duty to preserve you in last minute emergencies…”
He hesitated, looking around the area he was brought to… the escape hanger…
“You don't mean…”
“Yes sir, the team had all agreed one night that… we would prioritize your safety.” She said, a new expression crossing her face… determination.
He was shocked, he couldn't let himself be thrown away like this even if it's what his people wanted.
“No… no! I won't let you eject me, I can't! It's my duty to preserve the planet, I honor your choice but I won't let it happen.”
Xylitol Violet shook her head again, tapping a few buttons on the terminal attached to her wheelchair.
“Please forgive me sir, but I won't let that happen either.” her expression became stubborn and harsh, the opening of the escape pod behind him made his spine crawl. He could hear the heavy footsteps of… some of the robots? Xylitol Violet cookie had hacked the emergency safety robots, and intended to force him into the pod.
Everything felt like a blur, he was already exhausted and his head was pounding from having worked all night, now he was fighting to the best of his ability against his own emergency security bots just to not be shoved in an escape pod. His wings had flicked out, as if trying to make space so he could slip away.
Suddenly the planet shook, the heavy robots stumbling as he himself lost his footing. A crack rang through his ears as he was shoved into the escape pod door that slammed shut, he couldn't even focus on what could have possibly broken. He was focused on trying to pry the door open, the emergency override code wasn't working, so he resorted to just trying to pry it open.
Fuck, he would always remember the genius of his people, they thought of every possible thing to keep him safe.
If only he could have done the same… he was finally breaking down, sweat coating his forehead as he saw the pod detach from the wing.
“Please! Xylitol Violet, listen to me!” For once in his life he was shouting, doing his best to make his voice heard. His voice was cracking as all he could do was scream and beg for them to rethink this, to let him help protect them. It didn't matter, he watched as the pod took off.
He felt his footing slip again, the pod was caught in the gravity of the black hole that was encroaching onto the planet.
He was helpless as the emergency rush triggered, suddenly the small engine went into overdrive as he was jolted around. He was practically slingshot away from Xylitol planet, his body being thrown about due to the equally violent gravity of the black hole.
His head hit a corner in the pod, his vision flicking to black as he went out cold.
His body was limp, exhausted as he laid on top of what was broken… his wing extension, it had snapped in half from the force.
He had his staff with him, next to him at what cost? It had no use now, not to the sleeping Xylitol Nova Cookie…
The cookie with no home to go back to, no family, he was now left with nothing as he drifted into space.
Who knows how long he had been asleep, floating along till his escape pod had trailed behind a shooting star for some speed through the galaxy. Eventually slipping away from trailing behind it, he continued to drift while fast asleep on the floor of the pod. By the time the pod alerted its lone passenger of the orbit it was getting close to, he finally started to budge.
“Alert: Detecting life-signs and hospitable environment on star 5 1 18 20 8 2 18 5 1 4, entering orbit. Please stay seated to handle incoming turbulence.” the whole pod began to rattle, causing his body to shift as his mind fluttered in and out of consciousness. He hardly heard the message blaring from the pod as it started to rip through the stratosphere of Earthbread, the pod itself shaking him half awake before tossing him around knocking Him right back out. His skull was pounding every time he faded in, it made him nauseous anytime he became conscious enough to process the agony. This phasing in and out of consciousness was taking a toll on him as he struggled to try and get up off the floor, at least to fasten himself for the safety protocol. His footing slipped again as the pod shook suddenly, as if crashing through the stratosphere like two cars colliding. His body hit the ground again, causing him to lose consciousness again.
Almost every cookie in the Crème Republic had their eyes glued to the sky, it was a gorgeous evening only made startling as a bright blue light ripped through the sky and only seemed to get closer. A particular captain Stood cautious at the docks as he watched this burning light got closer, no matter how hard he squinted he couldn't make out what it was… just that it was coming in hot, fast, and had a high chance of crashing nearby. He started to step away from the docks, taking precautions to rush everyone close by away and further into the streets. If his guess was right, that burning ball of light was going to slam into the water, and no cookie would want to get soggy. As Caviar was watching the bright blue shine at a decent distance from the shore, he heard footsteps from a familiar pair of refined shoes behind him. He glanced behind him, shooting a raised brow towards the other cookie.
“Fancy seeing you here Clotted Cream!” he was obviously worried about whatever was descending on the shore, who wouldn't be? Even Clotted Cream had lost his refined and well practiced smile, his brows furrowing as he joined Captain Caviar next to him.
“You don't think any damages will be sustained, do you?” He asked, curious to hear Caviar's opinion on the situation.
He thought for a moment, before nodding.
“nothing detrimental! but there's definitely a few things that will be swept away by the wave…” the blue light from this falling object was almost blinding now, he could hardly make out what it was.
“Is that…” he questioned himself before finishing, hardly being able to get anything else out before it ripped through the waves causing a shock wave through the water. Waves lapped up onto the docks and shore, the rich woods and stone became soaked as a few abandoned stalls became toppled from the strength, the water was enough to just barely get close to where captain Caviar and Clotted Cream was standing.
The two looked to each other, silently nodding before stepping ahead in unison. It would only make sense they investigated whatever this was, but the reveal was… shocking.
At first the ship sank, then the emergency floating technology triggered and the ship began to stabilise itself. Floating back up like an empty glass bottle, Clotted Cream and Captain Caviar looked bewildered at the sight.
“what could that possibly be…” Clotted Cream looked suspicious of the ship, it was the only right reaction in all honesty.
“I'll get my boys to get a net and pull it in, I'm sure if it floats it will be easy to pull ashore, yeah?” Caviar hummed, scratching at his neck.
What exactly were they dealing with here?
After rounding up some cookies and tossing out a few nets, it took a group effort to pull the alien escape pod onto the shore.
Captain Caviar kept a distance as Clotted Cream took the first step closer to it, he was investigating what looked to be the door of the ship.
“Doesn't look like there's any way to open it from the outside, its in a quite impressive condition for crashing into the water like that…” It was once he peeked into the window after the fog cleared up that he stumbled back in shock.
“W-what!?” His shock caught Captain Caviar off guard, who stepped forwards with a new found curiosity.
“What is it?” He questioned, Stepping closer himself. As the Captain took his own turn to look in, Clotted Cream finally found the words he wanted to say.
“It's a cookie! There's a cookie in there!” The shock resonated in the air like a thick static, both of them felt thrown for a loop at this entire situation.
“We need to get the door open, they could be injured.” Caviar spoke with command, looking along the ship to see if there was anywhere they could possibly pry it open.
That's when the ship let out a hiss…
“Alert: Environment analysis complete, Decompression complete, opening door.”
The two of them stepped back as some clicks and a hiss emitted again, the door flipping open on an upwards hinge. It allowed everyone to look inside and see the disoriented Xylitol Nova Cookie.
He was weak, his head was pounding and he was probably starving by this point, despite it all he desperately tried to pull himself up and out of the ship. All he could do was stumble Out and hit the ground with a heavy thud, his one remaining wing enhancement sprawled out with a weak glimmer being the only sign there's any life left on his dough.
“They're clearly injured, we need to get them help immediately.” Clotted Cream spoke, looking into the ship in a single curious glance, easily locating the other half of the wing.
What exactly was this cookie… and where was he from?
If a cookie focused enough, one could notice the weak, incoherent mumbling coming from the other.
The desperate pleas that his planet was ok…
