"Ah shit!" a stressed Tom Holland shouted. "My wifi-connection just disappeared."
" Fuck, I really need the script for my call with Rachel." The brit glanced at his phone in disbelief.
"Why don't you use mobile data?" Harrison, his blue-eyed best friend suggested.
The two mates currently sat at a cafe in Singapore, hiding from the press. In the process of hiding, Tom remembered that he had a phone call with one of the producers of the next film he was cast in, Beneath A Scarlet Sky. He was supposed to discuss the script and dates for principal photography with the producer.
"Another country my mobile data network doesn't work. I can only call people." Tom put his phone on the table as he took a sip from his iced tea from the cafe. "Can I borrow your phone?"
"Sorry. You know I never bring my phone if we're only going out eating lunch. Besides, what's the problem, haven't you already read the script before?" Harrison excused.
"Err, I might have or not read the script..."
"What the fuck Tom?" Harrison said in disbelief. "I literally gave you the script in paper-version two weeks ago, you div."
"I know. I've just been so, ehm, so busy lately. I kinda forgot it." The heat from the big city made it hard for Tom to not sweat. Due to the current situation, Tom couldn't stop thinking of potentially lose the part in the movie. "Fuck. Rachel's gonna call soon."
The hot weather in the south-west Asian country was a big contrast to the weather in England. He had spent the last days of break, before going on a press tour, with his friends and family.
"Ah shit, I even forgot to transfer the script to my google docs. It's in my Mac...in London." As the problem couldn't get worse, he would have no access to the script even if he found a place with free wifi.
"You're such an idiot Tom." Harrison sighed.
"Hey, you're the PA. Shouldn't you help me out with stuff like this?" Tom asked while trying to figure out a plan.
"Man, I only came with you since I wanted a vacation. I left all my stuff at the hotel - which is 30 minutes walk away," he answered as he took a long sip of iced coffee. "But if the script is at home, maybe we can get someone to log in on your Mac and send it to you?"
"Haz! That's a great idea!" Tom exclaimed, getting a little faith. "What the hell, man. When did you become so smart?"
"You dickhead! I've always been the smarter one." Harrison replied as he laughed.
"Who should I call? The twins are out of town, mum and dad are visiting my aunt." Tom listed up all possible people who could help him out.
Tom's eyes widened. "Fuck. The only person who lives close and is possibly available is Y/N."
"Y/N Y/L/N?! Our neighbour Y/N?" Harrison looked at Tom as if he was crazy.
"Do you even have her number? If so, when and how did you get the guts to ask for her number?" Harrison mocked.
"Ha-ha, very funny," Tom replied sarcastically. "She actually gave me her number after I helped her out once."
"What are you waiting for?" His best mate asked. "You've got approximately twenty minutes before Rachel calls!" Harrison questioned.
Tom took the clue and dialled your number. He put the phone by his ear as he waited for a response.
· âą â· âą â· âą â
When you gave Tom Holland your number, you never imagined he would call you in the middle of the night.
It had been a tiring day and all you wanted was to get a good night's sleep. Unfortunately, one British guy was in the way of your wish.
As the loud sound from your phone signalized that someone called, you couldn't help but groan. You checked the clock. Three o'clock in the morning. Freaking three o'clock.
"What the hell?" you mumbled as you stretched your hand to pick up your phone. An unknown number appeared on the display.
You had two choices. Pick up the phone and realize someone was calling the wrong number, or not picking up at all. On autopilot, you answered the call before thinking furthermore. "Hello?"
"Is this Y/N Y/L/N?" a British voice said. The voice seemed familiar, but you couldn't guess which person it was.
"Uh yes. Who's this?"
"Hi, uh, Y/N! It's Tom. Y'know. Neighbour Tom. The one who lives in the apartment across the hall?" Tom rambled as you tried to process everything he said.
"What the hell, Tom? It's three in the morning!" you groaned.
Tom went silent. He was so stressed out by the situation that he forgot there were different time zones. "Holy shit, I'm so sorry, love. It's just...um...I need your help."
"What can I do for you, maybe ruin someone else's beauty sleep?" You snapped. When you were tired and sleepy, you tended to become sassy. Immediately as you said it, you regretted it. Tom probably had a good excuse to call you. "Sorry, I didn't mean it. I'm just very tired I guess."
"No no no, it's my fault." Tom nervously answered. "So, I need you to break into my apartment and email me a script for an upcoming movie."
"Tom, what the fuck?" you replied shocked. "You sure I'm not dreaming? Is this a prank or something?"
"I wish it was only a prank. 'M sorry, but I need that script, and you're the only one I know that can send it to me on the little time I have." Tom excused.
Tom said desperately. "Or else I'll lose the part, which I really don't want to."
You took a deep breath before answering. "Okay, I'll do it. You did me a favour once, it's my time to pay. Tell me how to break into your apartment."
· âą â· âą â· âą â
Tom let out a relieved sigh. "Thank you thank you so much! You're an angel!" Harrison eyed his best mate suspicious. The two-minutes long phone call was the longest conversation Tom had ever had with Y/N, as far as Harrison knew.
"Well, you're not exactly breaking into my apartment. Just pick up the keys hidden behind the nearest lamp." Tom described as he waited for a response. "Y'know, the one lamp that flashes all the time."
"I just need to get dressed, wait a sec." was all he heard from the other side of the line.
You opened your door, on the way to do the special favour. "When I gave you my number, I never imagined you would call for such favour or even call in the middle of the night too."
"How many times do I have to say that I'm sorry?"
"I don't know? Maybe ten times more?" you answered as you laughed. "Alright, I got the keys. I'm unlocking the door."
"So I have an alarm system. The display for a code will be on your left side. The code is 772017."
"That's a lot of 'sevens' for a code. Is it a date or something? In 2017?" you suggested as you entered the code and turned off the alarm system. "You should consider changing it, y'know. Too many sevens."
"I mean, I see a giant Spider-man Homecoming poster with the premiere date which is oddly alike the code to turn off your alarm system." you continued.
"Well, about tha-"
"-you're a famous actor, you should at least secure your home a little better. I bet the bad guys from Home Alone could break in and steal all your stuff easily," you stated.
"Hey stop judging my security system! And the thieves from Home Alone were good thieves. They were just, uh, dumber than that eleven-year-old kid." Tom said defensively.
You searched through his apartment for his Mac. "Chill I was just joking. But you should consider changing it or something. Some fans of yours could track you down and everything."
"Alright then, darling," Tom said in defeat. Harrison couldn't help but laugh at the scene. He had no idea what the conversation had transferred to, but he couldn't stop but grin. "I think I left my Mac on the kitchen counter. Or wait, maybe it's in my cupboard."
"Why do you have so many Spider-man posters and figurines. Are you that self-obsessed?" you chuckled.
"...no."
"Bingo! Found it." you reached towards the closed computer, as Tom waited on the other line for updates about the situation. "Tom, uh, I need your password."
Tom froze the moment you mentioned 'your' and 'password'. He should have known. His eyes went wide when he realized what his password was. "Wait a sec!" Tom put his call on mute as he let out a stressed sigh. "Shit shit shit. Fucking hell!"
"What?" Harrison asked as he saw the stressed expression on his best mate's face.
"She needs my password."
"Of course she does, you dumbass." Harrison laughed. Tom replied by sending him a death glare. "What? Why is it such a problem?"
"Because, um, oh fuck," Tom exclaimed. "Promise not to laugh, okay." Harrison shrugged as Tom took a deep breath. "It's 'mrs(your name and last name)holland'. That's the password."
"What the hell, Tom." Harrison laughed. "Why is that your password?" He facepalmed as he watched his nerve-wracked friend in a crisis.
"I don't know! I just, I don't know, I needed a password no one would guess!" Tom explained vividly as his best mate cracked up. "Don't you dare laugh, you dickhead."
"You dumbass. What the actual fuck, you div!" Harrison rolled his eyes. "How're ya gonna tell her?"
"I honestly don't know. I mean, I don't want to seem like a creep or something, but I really need that fucking script." Tom heavily sighed.
"You're on your own, mate." Harrison saluted jokingly.
Tom turned off mute on the call and put the phone to his ear. "Tom? Are you there?" he heard.
"Yeah yeah. Sorry. Bad connection, I think." he excused.
"Anyway, I need your password," you said again. You couldn't help but grin when you saw a picture of Tom and his presumable brothers doing a human pyramid. The camera had captured the exact moment Tom fell backwards while his family had worried face expressions.
"Yeah, 'bout that. Um, please don't take this personal, okay. I'm not a creep or something, I promise. Gosh, I'm so sorry." Tom rambled. "But yeah, um, the password is 'mrs(your name and last name)holland'".
The other line went silent until you laughed. "Wait, what? You're joking, right?"
"I honestly wish I was."
"Holy shit, you're serious?" you exclaimed. You quickly typed the said password. Surprisingly, you got in.
"I never thought this night could escalate into something even weirder, but it just got up to another level," you mumbled.
"Just tell me you logged in." Tom groaned as he was again reminded of the somewhat awkward situation.
"Yes yes, I'm in. I'm guessing the script is in the 'script' folder. What's the name of the film, again?" you asked as you searched on his computer.
"It's 'Beneath a Scarlet Sky'," Tom replied quickly. "Transfer it to my email, please."
"On it."
As you saved the file and tried to remember how to transfer files through mail, Tom ran frantically around the streets trying to find a place with free wifi. Of course, he used to be afraid of people hacking his phone through unsecured free wifi, but he didn't have time to care.
In the end, he found a small shop selling Christmas decorations all year. "Okay, I just sent it."
"Thank you thank you, darling! You're an angel!" Tom thanked. He refreshed his mail several times until the script file turned up. "I just got it!"
"Yay!" you cheered as you turned Tom's Mac off. "I guess my job here is done." you yawned.
"Shit, I'm so sorry. Fuck, I forgot it's three in the morning in London. Thank you so much, love! You really helped me out." Tom thanked and rambled.
"Is there anything I can do for you? Any favour?" he asked flustered.
"I'm glad to help you out, Tom," you answered.
"But I guess, um, we should - well go out on a first date before, y'know, we get married. Haha." you hinted. "I, uh, I mean, it would be nice to get to know you better."
Tom's face reddened as he was reminded of the password scene earlier. He was still embarrassed. "Um, I, just, uh, please don't make me try to explain."
"I'm not going to bug you about it. It's just a bit, y'know, weird, Tom. But I mean, I'm not going to judge you. My name makes a perfect password, right? Hahah." you couldn't help but facepalm as you said the last sentence.
"Um, yeah, it really does. I guess." Tom replied awkwardly.
"Just come by my flat when you're back in town. I know a place with delicious pastries and hot beverages. I mean, only if you want to." you suggested.
"Yes! I mean, of course. I would love to meet up with you, darling." Tom answered excitedly.
"Great!" you replied quickly. "Anyway, good luck with the, um, meeting about the film. I can't wait to see you in it!"
"Thanks! Um, sleep well, Y/N. I hope I didn't bother you too much. I will surely call you another time. Probably when you're not asleep, right, ahahah. Yeah." Tom laughed nervously. "Good night."
"G'night." you smiled as you ended the special call.
The week after the incident, a very happy Tom Holland knocked on your door with bright sunflowers in his hands.

pairing // tom holland x reader
warnings // swearing, sexual themes (like no actual smut but, like, youâll see)
word count //Â 1,497
prompts // 2. âwhy is that your passwordâ ((and also bonzi let me use 9. âfor some reason, iâm attracted to youâ))
the prompts will be boldedÂ
Having been roommates for the past two years, Y/N shouldâve been used to seeing her best friend naked with how often it happens. But itâs always a surprise when it happens. And most of the times, itâs your fault.
âTom,â you shout while looking away, âwhat the fuck?!â
âY/N!! Donât look!! Please, for godâs sake, donât look.â Tom panics on the spot before covering himself with his towel, âWhat the fuck are you doing in my room anyway?â
âMy laptop died and I need to check my emails and I donât know where my phone is, so I was wondering if I could use your laptop but I donât know if I want it anymore.â
Tom gives you a blank look before turning away and rolling his eyes. That look would be forever ingrained in your memory from how many times youâve seen him do it.Â
âYeah, whatever, take it. Knock yourself out-â
âThanks, Tom, I-â
âLiterally.â He deadpans, turning back to glare at you.
You grin and run over to kiss him on the cheek, âI was gonna say I owe you one butâŠâ
Tom rolls his eyes again as Y/N shrugs and walks over to Tomâs desk, picking up the laptop before walking out of Tomâs room, leaving him to finally get dressed. You walk into your living room and sit down on the couch, placing Tomâs laptop beside you. Just as you were about to open Tomâs laptop, he walks out of his room, clothed thankfully, and makes his way towards the kitchen.
âPlease offer some tea, please offer some tea,â you think, as you had forgotten to make yourself a cup before you sat down, and, well, youâre comfortable where you are.
âHEY Y/N, DO YOU WANT SOME TEA?â Tom yells from the kitchen.
âFuck yeah, Iâd like some tea,â you respond excitedly. Already knowing what the follow up question will be, you add, âWhatever type youâre having will be fine, my dear.â
You and Tom werenât strangers to using pet names and such for each other, it was just part of your friendship and you were like that with all of your friends and he was too, probably. You werenât sure. You just knew it had been part of your relationship with him for the past 4 years that youâve known him, platonic with pet names, but you werenât so sure that your feelings were strictly platonic anymore. You had started to feel butterflies whenever you saw him or thought of him, he was the first thing you thought about when you woke up and the last person to cross your mind as you fell asleep. You didnât completely hate that you walked in on him just after his shower, and you never really mind when he walks around the apartment shirtless. Or, well, you havenât minded for the past year since you acknowledged your feelings for him. Youâre fairly certain Harrison, Tomâs best friend and the person who introduced the two of you, knows of your feelings for Tom and if he does, he is incredibly good at hiding it.
Tom shouts out and interrupts your thoughts, simply to ask if you want a snack as well and you shout back your response, saying that you were fine. As Tom waits for the kettle to boil, you pull his laptop onto your lap and open it and realise you donât know the password to open it.Â
âFuck,â you think, âIâm such a dumbass that I forgot to ask for the password.âÂ
You hesitate for a moment, but then remember how long you and Tom have been friends and realise that if he hadnât already figured out that you were occasionally a dumbass, then he was the dumbass in this friendship.Â
âHey Tom,â you call out, and watch as he pokes his head around the corner and smiles at you, âwhatâs the password for your laptop? Sorta need it to get on.â
âOh, yeah, of course,â he responds, âitâs ijusthadsex. All lowercase, no spaces.â He grins and pops back into the kitchen, while you sit in shock at how calm and nonchalant his answer was. Nonetheless, you type the password in and immediately gain access. As you gradually start to process what Tomâs password is, he walks into the living room and places two mugs filled with tea on the coffee table and sits on the opposite end of the couch to you. As heâs turning the TV on, you slowly turn to face Tom and just stare at him.Â
âTom,â you say, âI have a quick question to ask you.â
âYeah, go ahead, darling,â he nods for you to continue on, still looking at the TV.
âTom- I- Wh- Why is that your password? I mean, what? I mean, thanks for giving it to me and letting me use your laptop but, uh, what kind of password is ijusthadsex?â
Tom turns to look at you, taking in your expression and chuckles. Yeah, you might be reacting a bit dramatic about a simple password but you just have to know. He canât just say these things and not expect questions.
âWhen I got the laptop and had to create a password for it, I Just Had Sex by The Lonely Island was stuck in my head for some reason and I decided, hey, why not make this my password for now? I can always change it later. Never got around to changing it and itâs super easy to remember,â he replies, grabbing his cup of tea and blowing on it before taking a sip and putting it down, âAnyway, Iâm usually the only one using my laptop so it doesnât bother me.âÂ
âYou made your laptop password ijusthadsex simply because you had the song stuck in your head?? You seriously couldnât think of anything else,â you nervously laugh and pick up your tea, âGod, and for some reason, Iâm attracted to you.â
As youâre bringing your tea up to your mouth, you process what youâve just said. You pause and slowly turn to look over at Tom, who, youâve noticed, has also paused.Â
âOh crap,â you think, while putting your cup down, âHow am I gonna talk my way out of this one?â
Tom turns to look at you, with shock and something else in his eyes. Relief, maybe?
âYou- youâre attracted to me? Y-Youâre really attracted to me? You⊠like⊠me,â he utters, hesitantly, with the last sentence seeming to be more of a statement than a question.
âI-I mean, yeah, youâre an attractive guy. Everyone knows that, for sure you know that. Iâm not blind. Your curly hair that somehow is always shiny and just always perfect, your gorgeous brown eyes that are like chocolate and just, ugh, are perfect always and especially in the sun. Oh my god, when the sunlight hits your eyes just right, I swear they sparkle and you just look magical. Donât get me started on your body, fuck, youâre amazing. I mean, are you attractive? Uh, duh. Am I attracted to you? Well, yeah, I canât really back out of this one, I mean Iâve liked you for the past year, maybe longer, who knows? But, like, I like you so, like, of course Iâm attracted to y-â
Youâre cut off by Tom leaning over, putting his hands on your cheeks and kissing you. You startle for a second before shutting your eyes, moving your lips against his while moving closer to him. You move to straddle Tom and settle yourself on his lap, making sure your lips donât separate. The kiss is full of passion and love, and you notice that your stomach isnât filled with butterflies but rather a never ending fireworks display. Youâve never felt happier than in this moment and you never wanted it to end. Tom disconnects from your lips, but moves his hands to your waist and pulls you even closer and rests his forehead against your own. You can feel his breath on your lips as you move a hand up to his cheek and gently stroke it with your thumb. You move your head up to press a kiss on his forehead, and hug him tightly in a non-verbal way of telling him to never let you go. He laughs softly into your neck where his head is resting and inhales a breath before beginning to speak.
âIf you couldnât tell, Iâm attracted to you too. Honestly, I think I have been from the moment we met. Always too much of a wimp to do anything about it though.â
You press another kiss to his forehead before replying, âWell, youâve done something about it now⊠And Iâm so happy you did.â
You continue hugging, neither of you loosening your grip but neither of you lose your content smiles. Your tea and your emails are long forgotten, nothing really matters in this moment, except for the man in your arms.Â
anyways here it is, please be kind

Hi my dudes, hereâs the fifth part I promised months ago (yeah Iâm a slow writter sorry (not sorry))
Rainy Day | Stormy Day | Sunny Day | Beautiful Day
Pairing: Best Friend!Tom Holland X Reader
Word Count: a steamy and uncertain 5.2k
Warnings: Smut my dudes, a little bit of angst but a happy ending
Authorâs note: So I wrote this for @noir-spiderrâs 3k followers celebration a while ago but I was a lazy piece of shit and I didnât take time to post it before now so oops my bad haha
Prompt:Â âI got you some flowers.â
Having sex with Tom was clumsy and yet it just felt right. No one had ever kissed you like he did, no one had ever held you like he did. It was perfect and everything you had ever wanted.
You kept asking to yourself why. Why had you pushed him away so far when this was waiting for you? Why hadnât you been able to realize your feelings for him before your friendship went south? Actually, you knew the answer but you hated to admit it to yourself. You had had to lose him only to be able to find him again. You had had to lose him to realize your heartbeat was steadier next to him, to realize there was warmth even in the coldest of storms, that there was light even in the darkest of nights if only you knew where to look.
And now you knew. As he made love to you again in the morning, just before the sun went up, you knew. Light was in those brown orbs you had known forever and yet it was new. Warmth was in his lips on your neck, and his hands on your hips. Tom was warmer than the sun, both for your body and for your heart.
âYou alright?â he asked as you lied in his arms afterwards, listening to the beats of his heart.
âNever been betterâ, you whispered and you heard the rumble of his chuckle.
âKnew I could make you feel greatâ, he laughed.
âYou divâ, you chuckled. âThatâs not what I meant.â
There was a moment of silence as you watched a particle of dust dancing in the morning light. It fell lazily, twisting in the sun, ever so slowly.
âThen what did you mean?â he asked and you could hear his heartrate picking up a little.
You propped yourself up on one elbow and looked at him. âYou know what I meant.â
âDo I?â he whispered as his eyes darted to your lips.
You couldnât resist. You leaned in and kissed him, and again you could hear the fireworks exploding all through your mind, flashes of blue and green and red. Red. It was the purest shade of red you had ever witnessed.
The kiss was slow. Just like the dust. It was lazy but it was how it was meant to be. How it should have been for so long.
You climbed on top of Tom, putting your legs on both sides of him, and his hands found your hips. Again.
Being with Tom was a lot more passionate then what you had expected it to be, but it felt great. Your body needed him just as much as your mind did.
He bit at your bottom lip and you sighed of content before rolling your hips forward. You could feel him getting hard again.
âAre we going to do this all day?â Tom asked in a breath as you left his mouth to kiss the sweet spot under his ear.
âI wouldnât mindâ, you whispered in his ear and his breath hitched in his throat.
One of your hands got lost in his curls as you worked your way on the skin of his neck, making sure to leave a mark there. You kissed it afterwards, before your lips found his again. This time the kiss was needy and you couldnât resist from grinding on his length again.
You moaned in the kiss and Tom replied by making you roll so he ended up on top. He kissed you and then made his way down your body, beginning with your neck and then with your collarbone. He stopped at your breast, his lips hovering just above your skin and you could feel his breath against it. That was enough to send shivers down your spine.
You whined a little as Tom just continued going down and he chuckled.
âIs there something youâd like me to do before I go further down?â he whispered as he kissed the skin underneath your breast.
âDonât be a teaseâ, you pleaded.
Tom sat on his heels then and suddenly you felt cold, very cold. You whined again, hiding your breasts with your hands.
Yes, this was the third time you were sleeping together. Yes, Tom had felt your skin against his all night. But there was something different, something more intimate about making love in the soft light of dawn.
âDonât hide yourself, darlingâ, Tom said. âYouâre the sweetest sight Iâve ever been able to gaze upon.â
âStop being cheesyâ, you blushed.
âIâm just saying the truthâ, Tom smiled. He leaned in and kissed the back of your hands. âWasnât there something you wanted me to do just here?â
You took a deep breath and nodded your head.
âThen you wonât mind if I do this?â he asked as he took your hands away from your breasts.
You didnât mind, oh no you didnât. Especially not as his lips wrapped around your nipple and he sucked on it. You moaned softly, which again made you blush.
Thereâs something indescribable about making love with someone youâve known all your life. It brings out a type of vulnerability you didnât think you had in you. At the same time, it felt as if you had finally found the puzzle you had been looking for, the one that fitted you perfectly.
Tomâs hand covered your other breast as he worked on your nipple, his tongue swirling around it. You could already feel your heat getting warmer, and he hadnât even gotten near it yet. But it was just a matter of time. And if there was a thing you had realized from making love with him twice in a night, itâs that homeboy liked to take his time.
And you did too. You didnât want the moment to ever end, and if he had to take his sweet time kissing every inch of your skin, than you were going to let him do it. And you were going to savour every second of it.
Tomâs empty hand caressed your side and went down your body. Slowly. Even slower than the dust. Your hand tugged at his curls as he got closer to your heat, your skin already so sensitive to his touch. One of his fingers slid down your folds. You moaned a little again, tugging harder at his curls. You could feel him smirking against your skin, but you didnât mind. Not when he was making you feel so great.
His finger slid inside of you, curling up immediately to find that spot that could make your back arch with only a single stroke. And it did and you tugged as his curls as a louder moan fell from your lips.
Tomâs mouth left your breast to find yours as he slid a second finger inside of you and your moan was muffled by his lips moving against yours.
Tomâs fingers moved inside of you, hitting that same spot over and over again. He was the first person to make you feel so great. Finn had never been able to please you like Tom did but you werenât going to complain. The others were temporary, Tom wasnât.
Even though the sun might hide behind some clouds, it always comes back. And Tom was your sun, of course he was.
You felt your orgasm building up inside of you, your nails digging in the skin of Tomâs shoulder. He left your mouth to suck at that sweet spot on the skin of your neck and you lost it all.
His name fell from your lips in countless whispers as you hit your high, your vision blurring from the intensity of the feeling vibrating through you. You felt like a bird, a bird soaring in the rising sun, taking in the warmth of the day after a long night and it felt amazing, oh so amazing.
As you got down from your high, you regained your senses and knew it was your time to please Tom. Of course you liked receiving, we all do, but there was something about seeing Tom coming undone that was making you feel even better than your own orgasm. Perhaps this was love. Cause when you love, you give and give and give, and you donât expect anything in return.
Tom lied down next you and you didnât take your time. You went down his body, faster than he had did because you couldnât take your time, not when he was right there, waiting for you.
You grabbed his length with one hand and you glanced at him before resting your attention back on the task at hand. Your tongue grazed the skin of his dick, from the bottom to the top, before you took him all in.
Tom took a handful of your hair as you started to move up and down his dick, your tongue twirling around the tip as you sucked on it before going all the way down once again.
Tom groaned as you sucked a little harder and you felt your heat dripping again and now all you wanted to do was to bury him inside of you. But you couldnât. You had to be patient and to give him what he had given you.
You continued working on him, and you could feel his dick getting harder by the minute. You knew he was about to come, and thatâs when you stopped.
âUh?â Tom said but you climbed on top of him and buried him inside of you.
He threw his head back on the pillow, his eyes fluttering close as you started to roll your hips. His hands gripped your hips, hard, and you knew he was going to leave marks there. But you didnât mind. Not when he felt so good inside of you.
You accelerated your rhythm as his grip only grew tighter and he opened his eyes to look at you.
You were so beautiful in the rising sun, it was like an angel had been sent from above. He watched as your boobs bounced up and down from the movement and before he knew his high hit him.
His eyes fluttered close and he moaned, your own moan echoing him as you felt him filling you with his come. But you didnât slow down. His dick twitched inside of you and it felt so great and you could feel your own orgasm building up again. It didnât take too long for Tom to notice that and he started moving too, hitting that right spot inside of you and you lost it.
If you had been a bird flying before, now you were an astronaut that had been thrown into the sun. It was burning, but the good type of burning. The type of burning that comes when passion hits its peak. It was the most intense feeling you had ever felt but at the same time the sweetest one.
It took a longer time for you to get down from your high this time. Once you did, you opened your eyes you hadnât even noticed you had shut. Tom was smiling at you, with that ecstasy smile one gets after coming.
âFeeling good?â you asked and he nodded.
âChristâs sake I havenât felt so good in my entire lifeâ, he smiled.
You rolled on the side to lie next to him, the skin of your arm barely touching the skin of his.
âThe feeling is reciprocated.â
Tomâs head turned to look at you and he kissed the side of your head.
âDo you want to take a shower?â he asked.
âYou know your showerâs too small for the both of us to fit in thereâ, you laughed.
âI know. What if I go first, and while you shower Iâll make you some breakfast? That sounds great?â
âThat sounds amazing.â
Tom smiled and kissed you softly before getting up. He grabbed a pair of gray sweatpants from a drawer and then left the room, after having smiled at you one last time.
You smiled too and as you were left alone you got lost in your thoughts.
You had had sex with Tom. More than once. And it was the best sex you had ever had in your life. But what did that make of your friendship? Were you still friends or were you more than friends? Probably more than friends. Friends didnât make love with each other. But what were you?
You tried not to hope too much. Yes, as you were caught up in the passion of the moment, you had felt as if you and Tom were forever. Hell, you still felt it. You wanted him to be your forever. But if he didnât feel the same way then you didnât want to start hoping.
You heard a cellphone buzzing on the night table and without thinking you grabbed it.
You know those mistakes we make without even thinking? Everything is alright and then you do something, you see something and the whole world comes crashing down?
Thatâs what happened.
Sara: Are you still coming later today? I miss youâŠ
The world stopped turning and you just stared at the text. The more you stared the more it lost all its sense. You saw the words, but you didn't grasp the meaning. You didnât want to grasp it. You wanted to be back on cloud nine, not crashing down to a ground that was way too far below.
The screen went black and you pressed on the button again. The words reappeared, unchanged.
You were nothing. Thatâs what you were. You and Tom were nothing and you had been stupid to think you could even be friends with him after everything.
You gently put his cellphone back on the night table and you sat on the bed. Your clothes were scattered around the room but you couldnât quite see them. Thatâs when you realized you were crying.
You got up from the bed, quickly, and picked up your clothes as Tomâs come dripped on your thighs. You didnât even wipe it, blinded by your tears as you put the clothes on as fast as you could before grabbing your own cellphone and leaving Tomâs room.
He was still in the shower, thankfully. But Haz wasnât.
âHey there, goodâŠâ Haz said as he turned around but then he noticed your face. âWoah, are you okay?â
You didnât reply, you didnât even want to and you walked past him.
âY/Nâ, Haz called after you but you didnât turn around.
He grabbed your arm before you were able to reach the door.
âDonât fucking touch meâ, you growled and Haz let go, not understanding what was going on.
He had heard everything about your night with Tom, although he would have preferred not to hear in so much details. He couldnât understand what was making you cry, especially not after having seen the dreamy smile on Tomâs face from when he had left his room to walk to the bathroom.
You walked in your apartment, slamming the door behind you as a sob shook your body. You made your way to your room, crashing down on your bed as you hid your face in a pillow to muffle your sobs.
Tom got out of the shower, the same smile plastered on his lips. He dried himself with the towel, his mind going back to you and the night you had just spent together. Best night of his life, if he was being honest. His mind got lost in dreamy thoughts as he got dressed and walked back to his room, never once seeing Haz on the couch.
His brows furrowed as he noticed you werenât in his room anymore. He walked back to the living room and only then noticed Haz.
âHey mate, have you seen Y/N?â he asked. âShe isnât in my room anymore.â
âI donât know what youâve done but she just left crying.â
âWhat?â Tomâs heart stopped in his chest.
Had he done something? His heart started beating again, but this time twice as fast as it usually did.
âIâve done nothing what the hell, we were justâŠâ
He found himself at a loss for words. Had you wanted to have sex with him? Was this night only a one night stand for you? And if it was, then what did it mean for your friendship? Had he just lost you again?
âWell she lives next door, go to her you divâ, Haz stated.
Tom fought the tears in his eyes at the thoughts that were spiraling in his mind âRight.â
He ran to the door and walked to yours. He knocked and waited. Oh boy did he wait. He knocked again and waited, knocked and waited, again and again. He didnât want to let you go, not when he had just realized how in love he was with you.
His knocks grew weaker as he waited for you to answer and he could almost hear you crying on the other side. And he hated to have to wait, he hated thinking that he had done something. But what? The night had been so perfect, everything he had always dreamed it to be, what had changed in the couple of minutes he had been in the shower?
He knocked again. Knock knock. But the door stayed stubbornly closed, and tears were pricking at his eyes and he felt so stupid, so stupid to have thought it was okay to have sex with you. Of course you didnât feel the same way, why would you, after everything he had did to you.
âI donât think sheâll answerâ, Haz admitted from the open door of their own apartment.
Tom turned his head to look at Haz and the tears won the war against him, rolling triumphantly down his cheeks.
âI canât give upâ, he said as a sob shook him.
Haz walked to him and grabbed his arm to pull Tom inside of their apartment.
âWhat happened?â he asked once they were sat on the couch, Tom hiding his face in his hands as the tears just continued to roll.
âI donât know, mate, everything was great and then I went to take a shower and she was gone when I came backâ, Tom explained.
He didnât understand, couldnât understand and all he wanted was to go back an hour ago, when he was lying next to you and everything truly was alright.
âShe seemed pretty hurt, something must have happenedâ, Haz stated.
âI swear I didnât do anything. Hell, I almost told her that Iâm in love with her.â
Haz stared at the floor as he too couldnât understand, couldnât wrap his mind around why you would be crying. He knew you loved Tom, it was common knowledge, so what could have broken your heart like that?
âI always fuck everything upâ, Tom muttered once the tears slowed down. âFuck, Iâm so in love with her, itâs unfair. Sheâs everything to me and now I may have lost herâŠâ
âMate, relax, maybe this doesnât even have anything to do with you.â
Haz hoped he wasnât lying, he hoped he was right but something in the corner of his mind told him he was actually lying. Why would you have pushed him away if Tom hadnât hurt you?
âIâll just go back to bedâ, Tom said after a while. âMaybe if I sleep sheâll still be here when Iâll wake.â
Haz wanted to say that things didnât work this way but he couldnât. Once Tom was in his room, Haz grabbed his cellphone.
Haz: Hey Y/n, what happened? Are you alright?
Y/n: I canât believe I was stupid enough to think Tom even cared about me.
Haz: What are you talking about? He does care about you, he knocked on your door for a full thirty minutes.
Y/n: If he really did care he wouldnât be seeing her today.
Haz: Seeing who?
Y/n: Youâre his best friend you should know whatâs going on?
âHoly fuckâ, Tom said as he walked back in the living room, holding his cellphone as if it was the heaviest thing he had ever held.
âWhat?â Haz asked.
âI was supposed to hang out with Sara toâŠâ
âExcuse me, what the fuck?â Haz exploded. âWhy the fuck would you hang out with your ex?â
âI donât know, man, I donât fucking know, she begged me to come over and I couldnât say noâ, Tom explained, his eyes still round with fear.
You had seen the text. It was the only explanation there was to this.
âThat doesnât make it any more alrightâ, Haz said. âFucking hell, Tom.â
Tom sat on the couch and opened his texts. He didnât reply to Sara. He couldnât.
âSheâs seen the textâ, he stated.
âShe probably didâ, Haz said. âWhat are you going to do?â
Tom thought for a moment. He had no idea. He wanted to erase the last few days from existence so when heâd receive Saraâs text he wouldnât reply. But life doesnât work this way. He had to live with the consequences of his acts, even though they meant losing you.
âI donât knowâ, Tom simply replied. âI fucked up.â
âYou should explain to Y/n what happenedâ, Haz said âShe deserves to know the truth of this.â
âWhat truth?â Tom asked. âThat I couldnât say no to my ex even though I was coming home to Y/n?â
âBut what were you going to do with Sara?â Haz enquired. âI mean, youâve been in love with Y/n for so long, what could have happened for you to decide to see your ex?â
âSaraâs dad passed away and she needed someoneâ, Tom explained. âI couldnât say no.â
Haz sat in silence for a moment. That made sense. Tom always gave himself away to everyone. He was always there if someone needed him and he never was able to say no to anyone. But if there was a thing he knew about you it was that you were just the same. Which meant youâd understand.
âOkayâ, Haz said after a while. âSee, I think you can fix this.â
Tomâs eyes left the carpet to find his best friendâs eyes. âHow?â
âI mean, regarding the situation, itâs understandable that youâd agree to hang out with Saraâ, Haz admitted. âYou just have to explain it to Y/n. Iâm sure sheâll understand.â
âShe wonât reply to meâ, Tom whispered.
âShe will, eventuallyâ, Haz stated. âShe always does. You guys are pulling at the other like magnets, she canât stay away from you.â
A flicker of hope burned in the back of Tomâs mind. Was there really a possibility that youâd forgive him and that all of this could be put behind you? âIâll be right back.â
Haz watched him leave, wondering what the hell Tom was going to do.
On your side, you felt drained. So drained and exhausted. You wondered why Tom always had to hurt you. You guessed it was how things were meant to be. You see, some people enter in our lives to teach us a lesson. Maybe Tom was your lesson. A lifelong lesson but a lesson nonetheless.
You heard your cellphone ring with Tomâs tone. You watched it ring, until the screen turned black again. You sighed deeply, but then it started to ring again. It took Tom four tries before you finally picked up.
âI donât want to talk to youâ, you said the minute the phone reached your ear.
âY/n, let me explain to you, itâs really not what you think it is.â
âOh, I know what this is. Iâm just one of the girls youâve fucked without even caring aboutâŠâ
âDonât finish that sentence, you know I care about you.â
âDo you really?â you asked.
âOf course I do!â Tom exclaimed.
âThen why were you going to see your ex today?â you enquired with the smallest voice.
Tom sighed on his side of the line. âListen, Iâm right in front of your door and I wonât move until you open the door. Let me explain it to you, but not on the phone.â
âYouâre annoying, Thomasâ, you sighed.
Something in his tone told you maybe there was an explanation. Maybe you had just overreacted.
You hung up the phone as you both just stared at each other. He took in the sight of your broken gaze and hated himself for it. But he was there to fix it.
âI got you some flowersâ, he stated.
He offered them to you and you wanted to resist, you wanted to tell him to fuck off, but you instead grabbed the roses.
âYou better have a good reason, Tom, or else this is the last time we ever talkâ, you said.
The roses were gorgeous. They were a dark shade of red, and their scent hit your nose gently, reminding you of the roses he had given you on Valentineâs Day years ago.
âCan I come in?â he asked, running a hand through his curls.
You hesitated, you truly did, but you couldnât say no. Especially not to him.
âYeah, come in.â
You walked to the kitchen, where you found a vase to put the flowers in. You didnât once look over your shoulder at Tom, but you knew he was watching you.
Even though you didnât want them to, your thoughts went back to the night and then the text. You spun around, anger flashing on your face.
âYou better start explaining soonâ, you growled. âI wonât let you stay here all day, youâve hurt me enough.â
âSaraâs dad passed away a week agoâ, Tom said.
All the anger in you disappeared and you felt sad. Sad and weird considering your awful relationship with your own dad.
âIâm sorryâ, you automatically responded.
âOh, itâs okayâ, Tom said. âBut thatâs the reason why we were supposed to hang out. You see, she needed to see someone and I couldnât say no, especially not regarding the circumstances.â
You stared at him, waiting for him to continue.
âI⊠I know itâs probably still not okay and I wouldnât have wanted you to see the text but you did and⊠And Iâm sorry.â
âItâs okay, Tom, I understand. I may have overreacted a little.â
âOh, no you havenât. Considering the night we just spent⊠you havenât.â
An awkward silence fell on the two of you and you looked at your feet.
âFuck I hate thisâ, Tom muttered.
âWould you have really gone?â you asked, raising your head to look at Tom with tears-filled eyes.
He thought about it for a moment. âI donât know. I honestly donât know.â
âTom, please leave.â
He stared at you and shook his head no. âI donât know if I would have gone. If last night didnât happen, maybe I would have. But it did happen and you know⊠you know it changes lots of things.â
âDoes it really?â you asked with the smallest voice you could mutter out.
You stared at your feet, not once daring to look up at Tom who had approached you and was now standing in front of you. He gently grabbed your chin and forced you to look up at him.
âYes it doesâ, he affirmed. âIt changes everything.â
In that moment you decided you had overreacted. You understood why Tom would have wanted to be there for Sara. He was like that and it was one of the reasons why you loved him. Because yes, you did love him. More than you wanted to admit it to yourself. He was just so caring of everyone around him, no matter what his past with said person was and it was the reason why you loved him.
âCan I kiss you?â he asked as his face was already inching closer.
You nodded and shut your eyes, waiting for him to close the gap.
He did, gently, not wanting to scare you away. And at first the kiss was a little cold, but you eventually melted into it. Tom pulled away after a moment and you opened your eyes to find him already staring down at you.
âI love you, Y/nâ, he said, matter-of-factly. âIâm so in love with you and I hope youâll forgive me for this.â
âThereâs nothing to be forgiven about, you did the right thingâ, you whispered. âI would have done the same thing if the situations were reversed.â You paused. âI just wasnât expecting to see that this morning.â
âWell, Iâm still sorry, I didnât want fuck the events of last night up.â
âItâs fine, Tomâ, you gently said. âItâs fine because I love you too, and I donât ever want to lose you again.â
He smiled and you noticed his eyes filling with tears. Happy tears.
âFuck, it feels good hearing thisâ, he laughed and your laugh echoed his.
âFeels good saying it.â
Tom pulled you into a hug and he wrapped his arms tightly around you. It felt even better to be in his arms, knowing he loved you and you loved him. Now, forever was not just some unreachable thing, it was a fact you could hold in your arms.
You wrapped your arms around his middle, hiding your face in the crook of his neck.
Tom was warmth. He was better than the warmth of the sun. To be honest, you wouldnât care if the sun stopped shining because you still had Tom. It was simple, it was warm, it was light and it was peace. Tom was all of that, and now he was yours.
You were thankful for the trials life had put on the road that had led to you being in Tomâs arms on that chilly October morning. They were what made the two of you you and by that, I mean you. They were the reason you loved him and the reason he loved you more. They were the reason he was light and the reason you were an angel. They were the reason you knew forever was possible, if only you were able to grasp it in that single moment it comes. And you had been able to grasp it, oh had you been able. You had been able to catch your forever before it was too late. Life had thrown you an uncertain ball, but you had caught it and made it certainty. And you were never going to let go of it.
You were done hurting and for good. You knew by the way Tom was holding you that he was never going to hurt you again and you knew by the way your heartbeat was steady that you were never going to push him away again. Bad days were in the past now.
And better days are ahead.

Prompt: I got you some flowers
Summary: Tom always brings you flowers when heâs thinking of you, and you want to switch it up and return the favor. Sometimes you just have to treat your mans.
What I listened to while writing: Winter Acoustic Playlist on Spotify
Warnings: swearing, lil bit of self doubt, lil bit of suggestiveness, lil bit of angst, a shitload of fluff

Bells jingled above the door as you pushed it open into the shop. You were instantly greeted by warmth and the perfume of fresh flowers, a welcome embrace from the biting England winter on the other side of the door.
You had never been to Petals and Thorns before. Tom was always the one to bring you flowers after a long day on set or after he had been away, but today you wanted to return the favor. He always came to the same place for flowers, and now you knew why. The place breathed life into you from the moment you stepped in. The shock of color in every corner was almost overwhelming after walking through dreary London all day.
Immediately, you knew you were out of your league. You had never bought flowers for someone, and you didnât know the first thing about them.
âCan I help you?â a voice rang out into the empty shop. A man who looked to be about sixty emerged from behind a curtain that led to the back greenhouse. He was wearing a denim button-up and tan apron, both of which were stained with gardening soil. The spectacles that rested on the bridge of his nose made his brown eyes look bigger, kinder.
âI want to buy some flowers.â
The man chuckled and ran a hand through his salt and pepper hair. âI never wouldâve guessed.â
You approached the counter, hoping you didnât look as lost as you felt. âI want to get a bouquet for my boyfriend because he always gets me flowers, but I donât know what kind he would like.â
âWell,â the man looked at you thoughtfully âwhat does he normally get you?â
You felt yourself blush and smile just thinking about Tom. He brought you tulips the colors of the sunset when he was thinking of you. They were your favorite because they reminded you of your mother. He brought you red roses when he was trying to get lucky in the bedroom. It always worked. Once he had brought you ivory roses after the biggest fight the two of you had ever had. And sometimes he would bring you a wildly colorful bouquet of various kinds of flowers that he had meticulously picked out with the help of the shop owner and spend an hour telling you what each one meant and why they reminded him of all the different ways he loved you. Those were the rarest and your absolute favorite of all the bouquets.
You told the man all of this and he listened intently. âSo youâre Tommyâs girl!â He exclaimed when you were finished talking.
You beamed at him. Tommyâs girl. This man knew Tom. Even though youâd never met him he knew you already, in a way, through Tomâs eyes. You wondered what Tom told him about you.
âThatâs me,â you chuckled a little shyly. âIâm Y/N.â
âIâm Vernon, nice to finally put a face to the name.â
âLikewise,â you nodded. âI want to get him a bouquet that says something like the ones he gets me sometimes.â
Vernon nodded knowingly, a gleam in his eye. âHanakotoba, or flower language, is very old-fashioned, but one of the most romantic gestures that a person can make for someone they love. But,â he paused âI might be a little biased.â Vernon came out from behind the counter and began to show you around the small shop.
He asked about Tomâs favorite colors and what you loved most about him. You gushed about Tomâs heart and his curls and the flecks of gold in his eyes. You could talk about your boyfriend all day if he wasnât already on his way home. Vernon listened intently as he selected a few samples from the displays.
Back at the counter, he lined up the flowers in a way where you could see them easily.
âSince itâs winter,â Vernon began âI picked out a lot of cool colors like blue and white. Theyâre also more masculine,â he explained.
You nodded, but knew Tom didnât give a fuck about shit like âmasculine colorsâ anyway. He wasnât like that. In fact, quite a few times youâd had to convince him not to go off on Twitter about how fucked up gender norms and toxic masculinity were even though you knew he was right. All of his contracts asked him to be as apolitical as possible. Still, you found yourself liking the colors Vernon had picked out.
âWhat now?â you asked.
âPick some out,â he instructed âand Iâll tell you what they mean.â
You brought your hand up to the counter, surveying each flower carefully. Your finger inched towards an interesting looking flower that youâd never seen before.
âThatâs a gentiana Verna. It relates to purity.â
That explained why youâd never seen it before and Tom had never put it in one of your bouquets. You let your fingers pass that one by and moved to the next one. It was more of an indigo color, and appeared a little faded next to the more vibrant flowers, but you liked how delicate it looked.
âThatâs a campanula, or a bellflower. It symbolizes gratitude.â
âI think Iâd like a few of those,â you said with a hint of a smile.
Tom had done so much for you, he loved you so well. You truly brought out the best in each other and you thought it was only right to thank him for it.
The next flower that caught your attention you recognized. âThose are gardenias, right?â you asked.
Vernon nodded. âGood eye! They symbolize a number of things like sweet love, joy, and good luck. Theyâre very aromatic.â
You brought the blossom to your nose and inhaled. Even though it was the middle of December it smelled like spring. Memories of picnics in the park with Tom and walks with Tessa flooded your mind. You added the gardenias to your arrangement.
You spent over an hour with Vernon, much longer than youâd expected, creating the perfect bouquet. When it was finished it didnât look very traditional, but you loved it and hoped Tom would too. You couldnât wait to get home to him and tell him what they all meant and how much he meant to you.
As Vernon wrapped your flowers up in brown paper you chatted aimlessly with him some more. âYou must love your job,â you said, âgetting to talk to people about love every day.â
âI do,â he smiled. âBut hanakotoba isnât always about love. Sometimes I arrange bouquets for people who are mourning or trying to apologize to someone. Those are a lot harder.â You hadnât even thought about that, but listened earnestly as he continued. âLove, love is easy to show with pretty flowers, but sorrow is more complex. People are closed off when theyâre unhappy and sometimes itâs difficult to get to the bottom of what theyâre really trying to express.â
You nodded in understanding. Vernonâs job was so...poetic. He seemed to have a special calling for this. You watched him tie a bow of twine around your bouquet before handing them over to you. You thanked him, paid, and told him youâd be back soon.
âBe sure to be careful with those in the cold!â he called after you as you left. âDonât let them be outside for too long!â
You took his words to heart and shielded your flowers underneath your coat. It was dark and stormy now, and the raindrops felt like pricks of a tiny needle on your exposed skin.
The tube was busy at this hour and you had to wrestle for space in the car. A nice gentleman offered you his seat, but you declined and grabbed onto a pole, telling him you only had a few stops to go. You had to hold the flowers at an uncomfortable angle so they wouldnât get smushed in the crowd.
Your phone buzzed and you had to wriggle around awkwardly to fish it out of your pocket. It was Tom texting you. He was already home and wondering where you were. Damn it. You had wanted to get home before him to set up a nice picnic style dinner from his favorite takeaway place with candles and everything, but now you were going to have to improvise. You texted him back that you were on your way and not to eat anything because you were bringing food home. You were a little deflated about your plans getting messed up, but you were still determined to make the evening special. You just needed better time management skills.
The food was ready to be picked up when you got to the restaurant. Youâd ordered it online so that you get home as fast as possible. You waved to the shop owner as you left, and called out a thank you. You were here so often that they recognized you and often slipped extra pieces of garlic naan in your orders.
It had stopped raining by now so you didnât have to worry about anything getting wet, but it was still freezing. Your hair was soaking and you could feel your nose running. You were positive the wind had made your cheeks raw and your lips chapped. You felt like a mess, you were late-stop it. If you let yourself keep stressing about things you couldnât control youâd ruin the moment completely. Tom wouldnât care about any of that. You made yourself take a few deep breaths and think about all the beautiful flowers in your arms.
Balancing your bag, the flowers, and the food was a little difficult, but you managed to get everything into your building in one piece. You had mastered the art of pushing the lift button for you floor with your foot, which came in handy on days like these when you had your hands full.
You hoped Tom had accidentally left the front door unlocked like he sometimes did, which usually got on your nerves, but today would save you from the long process of fumbling for your keys and unlocking the door. When you tried the door and it gave with no resistance you couldnât help but roll your eyes at your forgetful boyfriend, even though you were thankful for his bad habit- this time.
Tom was sitting on the couch, legs propped up, flipping through what looked like a script. He had lit a fire, and the glow illuminated him fully, making his curls look golden and his lips look warm to the touch. He looked up when he heard the door slam behind you and immediately jumped up to come help you.
âWhereâve you been, darling?â he asked, taking the heavy bag of food from the arm you held out to him.
âOut and about,â you replied, a smile playing at your lips.
You shucked off your dripping coat to hang it up and kicked off your boots by the door. You followed Tom into the living room where he had begun to lay the containers of food out on the coffee table.
âThese are for you,â you announced and held the flowers out to Tom.
âWhatâs this?â Tom furrowed his brow in confusion.
âI got you some flowers.â
You watched his eyes light up as he recognized the familiar brown paper and twine bow. He took the bouquet from your hands, holding the flowers lightly, as if he thought they might shatter like glass if he clutched them too tightly.
âWhat for?â he asked, unable to hide his grin.
âBecause I love you, and you always bring me flowers, I thought it was my turn to do the same.â
Tom held the bouquet to his nose and inhaled deeply. âI love them. Thank you.â
You watched his hands work as he started untying the twine. You were suddenly nervous to explain what all of these flowers meant. Why had it been so easy to tell Vernon, a stranger, exactly how you felt, but now, when you were facing the man you had been talking about you were hesitant? You realized that you were about to make yourself vulnerable in a way you never had before. You werenât good with words like Tom. You couldnât take exactly what you were feeling and turn it into spoken poetry like he could. He was an actor. It was what he was good at, and you felt like you fell short. But he deserved to know what he meant to you.
âVernon helped me pick them out,â you said, finding your voice.
Tom looked up and met your eyes. âAre these...?â he trailed off.
You nodded slowly. âHe taught me about hanakotoba.â Tom gazed down at the flowers then back at you. âEvery flower has a meaning. I can tell you about them, if you want.â
You swear Tom jumped in his seat. âYes! Tell me! Tell me everything, love.â
You swallowed, then pointed at the first purple flower shakily. âThese are larkspur. They represent first love.â You heard Tomâs breath catch and pushed on, continuing to be vulnerable. âThese are bellflowers,â your fingers brushed the petals gently and you kept your eyes trained on the bouquet. âThey symbolize gratitude. I picked them because Iâm really thankful for you. You taught me how love should feel. I, Iâve never felt that with anyone else. Every time you look at me I feel beautiful. You listen to my long stories about work, you bring me flowers,â you smiled, beginning to find your footing. âThese are freesia flowers. They symbolize friendship. I picked them because youâre my best fucking friend and I thought it was important for you to know. Obviously, these are tulips,â you continued, pointing at the blue bulbs. âThey symbolize perfect love, which I actually think is kind of dumb because thereâs no such thing as perfect love. No relationship is perfect, they all have their flaws. But I got them because I think what weâve got got is as close to âperfect loveâ as itâs going to get. I also got them because you usually bring me tulips when you get me flowers, so I felt like it was a little symbolic of that.â You paused, wondering if you sounded like an idiot. âUm, and lastly are the gardenias. They symbolize sweet love, joy, and luck, all of which I feel when Iâm with you.â You finally looked back up. âI love you, Tom.â
When your eyes connected you saw that Tomâs were watery. A tear trickled down his cheek and you caught it with your thumb and wiped it away.
You smiled. âToo cheesy?â
âNo such thing,â he said and took your face in his hands.
Tom kissed you tenderly. His lips were warm. Tom moved his hands into your wet hair and gripped tightly, causing you to moan softly against him. He pulled back, eyes full of love, lust, and everything in between.
âWhat did I do to deserve you?â he asked with a lopsided grin.
âIâm supposed to be the one asking that,â you insisted and kissed him again. âSorry the bouquet isnât very pretty, especially since itâs your first one. They donât all match, but I really liked the meanings of all of them I couldnât bring myself to get rid of any of them.â
âStop it, theyâre perfect.â Tom rubbed his thumb against your cheek. âYouâre perfect.â
When Tom called you perfect you sometimes wanted to correct him and tell him you were far from it. You were a little dented, a little chipped. You were stubborn and impatient and a too judgy. But you let it slide tonight and melted into him at the words.
âAre you hungry?â you asked, pulling away from him and turning towards the food on the table.
âDo you even have to ask?â he teased and started opening the containers and packages of utensils. âHoly shit, they gave us extra naan again! Could today get any better?â
Suddenly you remembered the other part of the surprise and turned to your bag. You dug through it until you found the little pack of pink flower petals youâd also bought from Petals and Thorns.
âI forgot about these,â you said and held them out to him.
âWhat are they?â
âFlower petals. Theyâre meant to go in water,â you explained. âI figured after we eat I can run us a hot bath with them. It was supposed to be sort of a romantic surprise, but you beat me home.â
Tom dropped the fork heâd been holding into the rice he was stirring. âCan we do that now?â he asked.
âDonât you want to eat?â
âIâd much rather eat-â
âFucking hell donât finish that sentence,â you rolled your eyes, but felt heat rise in your cheeks.
âMicrowaves were invented for a reason. Food can wait,â Tom insisted.
âIâm pretty sure microwaves werenât invented so people could let their food get cold while theyâre having sex and then reheat it, but itâs your day. We can do whatever your want.â you laughed and rose from the couch, taking Tom by the hand.
âWho said anything about sex?â he asked innocently. You raised an eyebrow at him and he surrendered. âYou know you didnât have to get me flowers to get me into bed, love, you couldâve just asked.â
âTom,â you nudged him playfully. âThatâs not why-â
He looked at you lovingly, all traces of teasing gone now. âI know,â he said started leading you by your hand. âNow come on, darling. Letâs put those flower petals to use.â
Another piece that took so much research lol I know absolutely nothing about flowers and idk how reliable the sources I found were, but I learned so much! I had so much fun writing this, thank you for hosting the challenge Em and congrats again!!
