“did you think i wouldn’t find out?” ( idk but it's angst and i had to )
@emrysborn wanted some angst
“I was prepared for this possibility as this day’s arrival was inevitable given the nature of this world,” a small sigh escapeshis lips as a morose expression was cast over his appearance as he felt his heart. The past was the most difficult of all subjectsfor the dragon; there was so much pain that he desired to burydeep within his subconscious, and for it to remain eternally buried. However, now - it seemed - speaking about it would be inevitable.
There was no escape from the agony.
“Yes, it is true. I knew your father. I knew him better than most…”the dragon confessed, steely blue eyes shifting their focus away from Merlin. He did not need to look at the warlock to sense thedemanding gaze that was aimed in his direction; demanding answers and why the dragon had not spoken of Balinor during the many years that Merlin had sought the dragon’s consul…
The father that Merlin never knew.
Kilgharrah tensed and gritted his teeth as he fought back the tide of emotions that swelled within his immortal chest; the emotions stung and burned.
“Balinor was my dragonlord, and I was his bonded dragon. Knowledge of him never left my lips within your presence as no mortal words that would pass by my lips could encapsulate his glory nor do him justice… It would have been an insult to his memory to render all that we experienced together into stalefutile words,” Kilgharrah murmured, his voice unusually soft andvulnerable, “however, if you desire it, I will try. You deserve toknow all that your father was, and will forever be.”
