Empty's parents are visiting, and I told him this week that now that they can stay in the same place with us (guest room), he should cook them a meal. Usually we would go out or, bc of pandemic, order in. And they always insist on paying. And they're done so much for us and help with the house now that it just felt right.
So he planned a dinner for them which I knew meant likely a dinner I would not like bc I am insanely picky. But I tried what he made and liked it! It was very experimental, and he isn't totally happy with the results, but everyone liked it. (He said the spices didn't really seem to come out as he'd hoped/imagined.)
First he cooked some salmon. I don't like pretty much any fish but his parents do. He also cooked up some pasta cause the dish was a pasta dish and when he was putting the pasta and other ingredients together, most of the sauce came from pouring the juice from the fish pan into the pasta.
The pasta:
The asparagus was cooked with the sauce but the tomatoes weren't and he wished he would have. There were spices and a fair amount of butter involved. I wouldn't have thought I'd like it but I did! (Even if I did have to do something about the aftertaste of fish haha)
Progress!
I really want Empty to get to try more cooking. He loves cooking and trying new things and I'm kind of the worst spouse for someone like that so this was a good excuse to push him to do it and we got the added perk of me liking it. Heck yeah!!
