#empowered multiples

Natural multiple was coined by astraea in the late 90s. It didn't exist before this.

(Though I contend that the multiple self movement integrated with the natural movement at this time, check that out on Google, cool stuff)

CDD communities existed in the 80s and in large numbers.

The natural multiples didn't fight for CDD acceptance, they fought to have CDDs removed from the DSM and called survivor multiples literal babies that couldn't stop crying.

I cannot believe I have to say this, it's almost 2026

Stop erasing us from history and claiming we didn't do anything for ourselves.

We don’t think so! We firmly believe that both separate and combined spaces are necessary for systems of all sorts. If there are no spaces where both disordered and nondisordered systems can come together to share their experiences, lift each other up, and learn from each other, it can cause resentment and misunderstanding to build between these two communities! That’s why shared spaces are so important, and why the empowered multiples movement is so dangerous! It sets up an “us vs. them” mindset that pits nondisordered systems against disordered systems while setting up a hierarchy with nondisordered “empowered” multiples on the top and all other systems at the bottom.

Of course, separate spaces are good! CDD systems deserve to have spaces focused on healing and growth surrounded by other survivors who understand. But there shouldn’t be exclusively CDD spaces and non-CDD spaces! We also need shared spaces (like this one!) where we can congregate to grow closer and support each other!

Those are our thoughts at least! ^^
