#employee rules

Anyone who has ever had a job knows there are certain rules an employee must follow. You must be on time and perform your job to the best of your abilities. And you must abide by a dress code.

Working at Dunkin Donuts, I donned my brown visor and apron with a white polo and blue jeans underneath. At Forever 21, I wore stylish, new clothing. At the daycare, I could wear anything as long as it was child-friendly.

And up until recently, Disney employees were not allowed to have any facial hair under their dress code.

Male employees are now allowed to grow beards and goatees as long as the hair is no longer than a quarter inch.

I can understand why Disney would have this rule, as some can let their beards become very unruly and messy, which doesn't set a good image to the public. But I don't see why facial hair should be forbidden in a dress code as long as the employee comes to work trimmed and clean.

I think it's good that the company re-thought the rule and decided to change it. Why should an employee refrain from a harmless life choice to keep their employer happy?

I think it's great that Disney wants a clean, polished look for their employees, but employees should also be allowed to express themselves.

Hopefully they're re-think the unnatural hair dye rule next.
