They say Amanirenas was thick, probably was out here like Anowa 👀 I mean hell she went on the battlefield and fought, thats how she lost her eye, so no doubt she was fit and thick... Queen/Kandake Amanirenas and Emperor Augustus, who's real name was Gaius Octavius. This is a little back story of what occurred. Rome had conquered Egypt and decided that they were going to tax Nubia also as if they were a vassal state. Amanirenas had other plans, she and her son Akinidad, led an army of 30,000 men to sack the Roman fort in the Egyptian city of Aswan.They took prisoners and a statue of Augustus where she cut off the head and buried it under a temple in Nubia so everyone could walk over it. Gangsta. The Romans came back at her, she and her army went back to Nubia. So what she did was gather a bigger army with folks from Nubia and folks from the interior of Africa. Augustus so oh hell nah and decided that it was best that a treaty was signed, which happened in 21/20BC. The humiliation that the Romans endured behind her has never really been discussed, it's one of those facts that is glossed over. Also a lot of the Meroitic script can't be fully understood so there is no telling of what information the Kushites could've provided about that time period. Kandake Amanirenas son Akinidad went on to rule along Amanishakheto. The picture of Augustus I posted is called the Meroe Head, and it's housed in the British Museum. Amanirenas sent Augustus a bundle of golden arrows and even had a message for Augustus---> This gift is from the Kandace. If you want peace, this is a token of her warmth and friendship. If you want war, keep the arrows because you are going to need them.
