Trinity is Neo; she is The One. Morphius is her mentour, but inevitably he begins to fall in love with her. His judgment is warped by his infatuation, and he even begins altering the prophecy & its meaning. The whole quest becomes compromised. Trinity quietly rejects Morphius, her eye firmly on Neo. He does not notice until much later, but Morphius notices. Driven mad by love, he tries to murder Neo, but Trinity saves him, inadvertently killing Morphius in the process. Cypher helps them hack back into the Matrix and wipes their memory. Neo & Trinity live happily ever after.

Look, I’ve never even been to one of these things before. Come now, what are those little discs even worth? It’s a what? A chip? Oh, right. My girlfriends said this would be good for me - live a little, they said. Ha! I bought this dress especially for the occasion you know. Excuse me? Oh, do you like it? You do..?

It was the first time I killed a man. All the others have been women. They are soft, scratchy, quite feral in their little horror. But this man - he was hard and silent, and it was strange because he did not bend. He flesh was unbelievably warm, just as is the flesh of women, but he grew cold much quicker, as if he saw it coming and resigned himself to death early. Women scream, and they fight hard for their life, but he did not bother with any of that. He did not claw desperately at my face or waste his final words by gurgling stupid questions about who and why. I did not like killing the man. It felt wrong, backward somehow. I thought I would feel huge and triumphant - I remember how my mouth had filled at the idea of it - but now I feel spent. For the first time in my life, I fear I have performed an injustice. The man did not fight me, he just bled out in my arms, his eyes wide and gawking into me. Why did he do that? I wish he had looked away. I wish I had looked away. I do not think... I mean... perhaps I shall stop. For a while at least. I wish he had looked away.
