that word haunted him every time summer was dwindling to an end. over the years he had started to let less && less people in, the inevitable goodbyes being too much to swallow, but that wasn’t his nature. a few people always slipped through the cracks. he cried every time the campers started heading home, but he very rarely got close to counselors that weren’t previous campers or his family. still, katelyn didn’t even slip through the cracks, she had managed to find her own alternate route to his heart. 

it was the last week of camp. he was packing up his things to move back up to the main house, but he was avoiding it. partially because he lived && rain the camp year round with his mother, he could leave he stuff wherever he wanted, but mostly because he didn’t want to leave. the idea of not having katelyn by his side anymore broke his heart. goodbye was terrifying, but this one would wound him.
