hands shake. she can barely breathe. the world around her barely even exists.
this was all supposed to be over. she was supposed to be safe. and hidden.
she hadnât wanted to hurt anyone.
for once, the girl with fire flowing through her veins was truly frozen. whether it was with fear, or regret, or guilt, or any other mix of whatever negative emotion she could think up, she couldnât move. they had pushed her this far, and she knew that it was exactly what theyâd wanted. theyâd spent years teaching her to fight and how to kill, how long would it be before she actually did it?
he has to grab her arm to pull her out of it, for her to realize that miles was there. he has to repeat himself a few times for the words to register, and even then, she doesnât jump to answer. what was she supposed to say? that he had been wrong about her from the beginning? what kind of human could do what she had just done?
sheâd burned them alive. she hadnât wanted to do it. they were going to take her back.
tears build up in her eyes, and she tries to speak. she wants to say something, but words just wonât come. how was she supposed to explain that she had never been human in the first place? this had always been her destiny.
âthey were going to take me back.â she doesnât specify where, or who, or what was even going on. her body shakes, anxiety mixing with adrenaline that had come from the previous fight.
    âthey know where i am.â  //  @girascl  ;  from here.
miles knows the two canât stay where theyâre at. thatâs just asking for trouble; somebody will find them, && MILES CANâT PROTECT RAIN IF THATâS THE CASE.
so he PICKS HER UP && STARTS CARRYING HER AWAY. heâs not going to let anybody take this terrified young girl away, not going to let anybody hurt her--he CAN protect her; heâs spider-man after all. quickly climbing up a wall, miles stops most of the way up it, adjusting his grip on rain.
â YOUâRE GOING TO BE FINE. â
â i wonât let anybody hurt you. or take you away. youâre going to be safe, okay? I PROMISE. â
distractedly, miles cards a hand through rainâs hair, taking great care to not stick to her the way he had once stuck to gwen, before he sets rain on an open window, clinging to the wall himself.  â RAIN. listen to me. you are not a monster, or anything bad, okay? YOU PANICKED. that doesnât make you a bad person. â
miles looks around for a moment, before he envelops her in a hug.  â whoever they are, i wonât let them take you, okay? â
