felt like i do not spread the emaya agenda enough and they are like. one of my favorite ships oat...
emamaya is quite genuinely such a beautiful shipp to me. two women whose parents died, who lost their older sisters (Mia is dead, Lana is in prison), who end up in jobs they don't like— Ema becomes a detective after failing at becoming a forensic Investigator and Maya becomes master of Kurain after saying she wanted nothing to do with the clan. Ema becomes bitter and negative but Maya stays cheerful for Pearl's sake. absolute opposite endings of very similar lives. Ema finally gets the job she wanted but some of her issues still linger while Maya stays in Kurain.
when Ema is doubting about her testimony in a trial against Phoenix and Maya, in a country where lawyers get the same sentence as their client, meaning that Phoenix and Maya could very well get the death penalty, Maya still comforts Ema about it. Even when it means her and Phoenix will be in danger she still makes sure to comfort Ema.
Ema's more negative Giving Up In Front of The Law attitude contrasted with Maya always staying strong for others regardless of hardships.
I think they contrast each other very well. Maya's hopeful nature Vs Ema's issues and doubts. I find it fascinating that Ema is the one that ends up with the life she always wanted but she's still the one who presents her issues most outwardly while Maya hides her troubles for those she loves.
