IR Windows for Infrared Cameras

Infrared cameras depend on carefully designed optical paths to capture thermal radiation and other infrared signals. An IR window positioned in front of the imaging optics can provide environmental protection while maintaining transmission within the required infrared wavelength range.

The choice of infrared window material depends on the camera's spectral range, optical design, and operating environment. Germanium, Silicon, ZnSe, and other infrared optical materials can be considered for different MWIR and LWIR applications.

For thermal imaging cameras, industrial inspection systems, and infrared detection equipment, factors such as transmission, AR coating, surface quality, flatness, thickness, and environmental durability should all be considered when specifying an IR window.
